For the season, Curry and Green (without Butler) are +7.7 in 882 minutes, and Curry alone is -1.7 in 634 minutes. However, if I add some additional filtering for Wiggins, then solo Curry jumps up to +12.2 in 297 minutes… because Curry with just Wiggins was a horrific -14 in 337 minutes. :o

If they can get up to the fifth seed then they definitely should win a round. Less sure how they fare against the Nuggets or Lakers, but would not put their odds lower than 40% regardless. Butler and Draymond are reliable playoff risers, and neither opponent has the personnel to comfortably defend Steph.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the Luka Lakers vis-a-vis Warriors matchup. I think they are a better team now, but a worse matchup for the Dubs when they had AD, he was such a gamebreaker defensively. Granted Lakers have been elite without him on that end, and the offense becomes considerably deadlier. Still, I thought the LeBron-AD were always one of the scarier matchups for the Warriors given IQ on defense and how much ground they both cover

I am a bit less optimistic about the playoffs. Despite the strong early indicators, this team still is incredibly limited on offense. Curry is obviously an elite offensive player but even he has regressed from his peak. Butler is a strong offensive player and has proven he can rise to the occasion in the playoffs (though not always), and I do like his fit with Curry. But he really struggles with his jump shot and has not been consistently aggressive on offense either, and the Warriors' personnel isn't ideally suited to mitigate those issues.

The rest of the rotation players are:

1) Green. Awesome synergy with Curry and therefore still valuable to our offense but his scoring around the rim has been absolutely abysmal and teams are still very happy to leave him completely open from behind the arc.
2) Podz. Solid rotation player but his scoring leaves a lot to be desired. Almost zero rim pressure and he is a limited shooter at this point of his career. These two issues also negatively impact his ability to reliably provide secondary creation.
3) Moody. I like him but he is not a good starter (yet). He tries on offense and he cannot be left open by opposing defenses but he is still not a sharpshooter (prone to missing decent looks) and also really struggles to pressure the rim.
4) Kuminga. Lots of hopes are on him and I understand why. He should be the best scorer behind Curry and Butler on this team. The problem is that he is not a reliable shooter either, and will play in line-ups that feature several of those already.
5) Hield. Still very important to our offense simply because he is a legitimate shooting threat and we need that. If he can return to being a sharpshooter we will be much better but he has struggled with his shot for months and there is no guarantee it will return for the playoffs of all times (with almost no experience to boot).
6) Looney. Love the man, and he does provide some value on offense as a screener and offensive rebounder. But he can't shoot, his finishing ability is limited and his overall scoring ability poor, making him a rough fit in a bunch of line-up combinations.
7) Post. His shooting ability has been a breath of fresh air and is very welcomed. But his rise just shows how starved we are for shooting (especially in the front court). That is also pretty much his only offensive contribution right now and we have no idea if he is even playable in the playoffs.
8) GPII. He really knows how to play around Curry and that gives him minutes. But we obviously don't have to talk about his offensive limitations and that he further hurts our already poor spacing and scoring droughts.
9) TJD. He has been out of the rotation for a while now. Focusing only on offense, that is in part because he can't shoot (hence minutes for Post) and that can't finish through any kind of contact (making him pretty useless in his role).
10) Santos. He has won the hearts of Warriors fans with his hustle plays and that infusion can be a spark for the team, including on offense. But let's be real, he doesn't have NBA skills for his position and that will show even more in the playoffs (on the off-chance that he stays in the rotation).

So yeah, it's pretty bleak. I expect pretty much any playoff team to disrupt our offense pretty easily for significant stretches of the game. I do believe the defense can be good (though probably not against every match-up) and I am hopeful that Curry and Butler, aided by Hield finding his shot and Kuminga providing rim pressure, can give us enough offense to win a series or two. But I wouldn't bet on it. If we still had Wiggins, I'd be much more optimistic. As it stands, though, I do believe we will see some really ugly games featuring the Warriors in the playoffs, and I do believe the team's limitations will be on full display sooner rather than later. I'd be delighted to be wrong, though.

(Also, let me just note that we haven't made the playoffs yet and I don't think it's a foregone conclusion either (even though our chances are obviously infinitely better now than a month ago). Whether that's me being a pessimistic fan or a realistic observer remains to be seen, I suppose).

I think the ceiling for this team is probably a second round exit, unless there’s some unexpected upset that gives them an easy bracket. And, depending on their seeding, I can very easily see them losing in the first round. Even losing in the play-in is definitely possible too, since the play-in is a bit of a crapshoot and it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Minnesota end up ahead of them in the standings. The Butler trade has definitely made them better but when your three best players are going to be 37, 35, and 35 years old come playoff time, I think it’s hard to expect much—especially when the rest of the team is just okay. There’s also a pretty decent chance one of their three best guys gets injured before or during the playoffs, given their age and the fact that they’ve all got some injury history. I guess it’s at least a little exciting though, because there’s at least some non-zero chance that Steph/Butler/Draymond all actually turn back the clock a bit in the playoffs and play great. If they do that, then we could be looking at a deep run. I just think that’s really unlikely under the circumstances.

When you look at the players individually we aren't a championship contender. We also play a lot of 1st contract guys in our rotation. 4 1st contract guys will be expected to play major roles in the playoffs. Our playoff hopes will come down to how much can our others make teams pay for taking steph out. But there's no one in the west with a dominant rim protector (I'm assuming Dallas doesn't make it), so I'm not sure there's a team that will be able to guard 2 at the rim while devoting 2 to Steph. Teams will without a doubt try to take Steph out, can Jimmy and Dray take advantage of it? Will Moody and Podz be able to make enough shots to make teams pay? Will JK have the game plan discipline on defense to not mess up our defense? I think the last 2 questions are our biggest question marks. But in any case we will be a tough out regardless. If we can get playoff Jimmy it might not matter about Moody and Podz since Jimmy is going to get a lot of 2v1 or 1v1 matchups and if Jimmy can take advantage of that and stop teams from devoting their whole team to just stop Steph and Steph is able to get loose then we have a shot to beat anyone. If we win a championship this will be more impressive than 22 that's for sure.

I think OKC certainly qualifies as a team with potentially great rim protection in the playoffs. Minnesota has a dominant rim protector, too, though it remains to be seen if they will be a dominant rim protecting team in the playoffs. Same applies to the Grzzlies (with JJJ). The Clippers and, to a lesser extent, the Rockets have also done well stifling our offense this season and have at least interesting rim protection opportunities. So I am very confident that we will see our offense seriously challenged in the playoffs (provided we indeed make it).

OKC doesn't have the discipline to stop Steph and have smaller defenders that Jimmy will likely be able to bully. We most likely won't play Minnesota, but we've had their number all year. Memphis, I forgot about and JJJ could stymie our offense. Will be an interesting matchup. We most likely won't play the Clippers.

At some point, especially while watching a brilliant performance, you have to give credit where it's due, right? And Steph is fun. He is such a ridiculous shooter that it's tons of fun to watch, too.

I doubt the home fans are chanting MVP, he/the Warriors just have a pretty massive fan base across the country. So many fans who adore Steph and come out to games to see him when he's in town.

Though I do think the entire stadium audibly reacted to that half court buzzer beater lol.

1st triple double for Jimmy. I can see why random shooters were always popping off for Miami, Jimmy is super insistent about finding guys when they're open
