When you've been in the league 15 years and have played in the same number of Super Bowls as Trent Dilfer, your opinion and feelings no longer matter.

I'll take they weren't expecting a sharp decline in Rodgers play when they extended him 2 years ago so they decided to preemptively draft his successor when a guy they liked was in range of them for 500 AlexneiLz wrote:M-C-G wrote:No beef with Love and if we were going to try and get our next QB in this draft I guess doing it in the first to get the 5 year option is wise.
But if you were contemplating this why did you extend Rodgers? I am fairly certain you had him under contract for two more seasons anyways, what was the rush?
I think we have exactly two more seasons of Rodgers and I think they got cute trying to imitate that Chiefs.
Draft was really unkind, but I would have been fine with Queen. Here is hoping a WR drops to us in the second. And here is hoping we can flip Taylor for a third or fourth

This might be the best argument. If you're the Packers and were even thinking about an heir apparent in the next few drafts why would you extend Rodgers? I understand how players can slide in any draft and each year is different but they just extended Rodgers!

Funny that you think there will be a preseason and that if we have one there will be fans.
Try 4-5 years. Gotta give the kid at least a year of starting before a call can be made.Turk Nowitzki wrote:The worst part is that we might have to argue about this pick for like 3 years before we have any idea if Love is any good.

Not a fan of this type of argument. A coach leaving a college for a bigger gig is a REALLY big deal for these somewhat smaller programs. Picking the stats of one game against one of the best teams in the nation is a bit unfair.
Again, NOT the move I would have made after extending Rodgers, but let’s not take it out on the kid drafted.

Gary and Love can play catch on the sideline while ARod tries to get to Superbowl with no help. Love might be a good player down the road but it might be 4 years from now.

Maybe during these 3 years he'll learn to play QB, sitting on the bench will make him better I'm sure.
