You used to be able to put Pat on the top of a drop scheme because he was so fast in recovery and good at rear contests, and you could play him at 4 and dare guys to post him up because he'd stone anybody. I know people hate his kamikaze closeouts, but there was a time when he could get a second jump and contest after a pump fake/relocation.
None of that stuff works anymore. The closeouts take him out of the play completely. Bigs can get the corner on him in the post now, and he doesn't have the same recovery speed he used to chasing over ball screens.
