Knicks could use some kind of deadline trade to improve the team. Giannis would be nice, but maybe there's a wing who can create or shoot that is available for....actually I don't know who the Knicks can trade. Mitch? Not sure I'd trust KAT/Huk/Jamison to hold the middle down on a playoff team, but Mitch is 50/50 on playing anyway so maybe him.

He's essentially the only asset the Knicks can spare, outside of Dadiet. Pretty sure Dadiet's 2.8 million $ slot isn't returning a good player, not one a team is looking to move anyway.

KAT clearly isn't intouchable imo. I'm not sure Sabo is the counterpart. Obviously Knicks fans would like to sell high, eg, on Giannis.

I think the Kings hold the upper hand and would keep Ellis

Knicks would be the ones adding young assets to get Sabonis

Sabonis makes $12 million a year less than KAT

$12 million is the difference between the 1st apron and 2nd apron

If the Knicks decide that our 3 most important players are Jalen, Mikal, and OG, then getting Sabonis makes too much sense. Especially if Mike Brown is implementing his system and everyone is fitting into it except KAT.

I have one target that I think would do wonders. IDK how we do it if we have to match dollar for dollar but I would make us the title favorites if we got him back to the core - DDV

We'd prob have to throw in Dadiet + a few 2nd rounders but I like it.

Then we could start Sabonis, OG, Mikal, Ellis, and JB and have Deuce as the super 6th man.

I'm up for this game though (even though its way to early in the process). I agree on Sabonis (and then he provides zero spacing and the rebounding is basically a wash you would get more playmaking though).

So who are realistic trade candidates

Lets not do Giannis because he's not moving this year if MIL is playing well.

And for example your not getting Bam for KAT. But what would be a realistic trade where you net a similar impact type player (maybe could even be less offense but more defense) and the money obviously has to work as well. Doesn't have to be a 1 for 1 trade but roughly trying to get a sense of what players are close to equal value for KAT.

I don't think the Knicks would because of there lack of big man depth. And then you also have the fact that LeBron contract is expiring. This would leave a huge hole on the roster that we wouldn't be able to fill. We are operating just under the 2nd apron. LeBron contract coming off the books would put us right around the 150 MM range and then the salary cap being at 166 or projected to be. That would basically leave us MLE type cap space and down an all-star caliber player. That wouldn't be ideal cap management.

Enough with the big names, would require too much & then we’d be trying to fix THAT hole……what about Jay Huff and/or Santi Aldama?

I am also unsure about the Brunson - KAT pairing to win a chip because both are defensive weak links and you sure not giving up on Brunson

If we are trading for Giannis though you also need to get rid of Mitch and Hart they cant coexist together, and we will be lacking even more depth so there is no point. We have to fix the bench and expand the rotation that is a must

If it's the same defensive liabilities but not any worse, then Sabonis might have more value than KAT to the Knicks for a number of reasons

1. Makes $12 million less than KAT, and Sabonis' contribution to winning is extremely close in value.

2. Mike Brown already knows how to coach Sabonis, are Sabonis knows how to play for Mike Brown. You have Brown right now trying to turn KAT into Sabonis-like passer. It would probably be easier to just get Sabonis for Brown's system.

3. Sabonis is more likely to develop a two-man game with Brunson than KAT has
