Technically no. It's Kesh's call, but the CBA says no, and I know he wants to follow the CBA. So I'm gonna say no for him.

Feel that this should of been stated before the game started as this was allowed in previous games..but I really don't care either way as I'm below the tax

"Starting in 2013-14, the team receiving the player cannot be above the "apron" ($4 million above the tax level) after the trade1, 2. A team above the apron can receive a player in a sign-and-trade if the trade reduces the team's payroll and the team finishes the trade below the apron."

So tax level isn't the breaking point either way. And that's only for receiving team

In structuring a 5 year FA deal we can make both years 4 and 5 player options, correct? Like Lebron, Wade, Bosh all got?

I think they got more than 4 years, because it was a sign & trade. I might be wrong. Kesh said only an ETO after the 4th year & only one player option.

If you offer a 5 year contract, the 4th year can have an ETO and the 5th year can be a player option.

How do you go about matching rfas when they're offered?

Just quote the post in the free agency thread in which the RFA signs an offer sheet and say that you're matching it.

"Spurs Out/Raptors In

Manu Ginobli 7,500,000

Top 8 Protected 2014 First Round Draft Pick

Spurs In/Raptors Out

Jeff Green 8,700,000

Spurs Accept. I hate giving up a first round pick but I'm hoping I finish top 8 so I can get the pick back and I'm hoping to move Green for a pick or two. "

Why would this pick carry over without wording in the trade? Plenty of picks simply expire once protections expire. I just spent the last 12 hours turning down trades based on the assumption I was getting an unprotected 2015 1st from SA and now I'd have no time/opportunity to negotiate otherwise. The 2015 pick has already been falsely dealt from TOR, would like a ruling from Commish.

The 2015 pick belongs to San Antonio.

Please show me the "plenty" of IRL trades where a team accepts a deal for a 1st round pick with protections for only one year which completely expires the next year. I bet there has never been such a deal in the history of hte NBA. So I now I lose a pick simply because a GM who quit the game wasnt thorough(or more likely simply didnt understand he needed to specify the protections going forward)

This ruling completely ignored intent and common sense and punishes me who wasnt involved in any mistake. I will stand by the ruling because I signed the contract but this is arbitrary and totally unfair to the spirit of the game.

Whatever. The reworked trade will be posted.

Picks generally expire after several years of protection. Why would a team acquire a pick on the off chance it fell outside of that protected range? Just because those two GMs were lazy and didn't bother to specify what would happen after 2014 doesn't mean we have to assume the protection would expire.

That aside, I'll cough up another first round pick and maybe I'll go around trading first round picks with Top 30 protection that expire the next year.

After tier 4 is done. The remaining FA are then bidden on. With 500k increases. The bid has to hold for 12 hrs and you can only bid on two guys at a time.

Ok thanks Klove. So basically the same way FA started at the beginning of the game only this time there will be more and better players available and likely more teams with money? And the limit on 2 at a time Got it.
