The average age of players with Achilles injuries is 30. And Dominique Wilkins turned out fine after his. Now it depends on the degree of the tear but people assumed the worst with the Hayward injury too, and he looks like he's progressing better than anybody hoped.

I'm just trying to stay optimistic here.

Well to be fair, Hayward broke and dislocated his ankle, not tore his Achilles.

Just saying, I think people generally assume the worst with these kind of injuries.

Matthews also came back from it much, much better than expected. Has just went back to playing crazy high minutes every game like he did before the injury basically from regular season game 1 since coming to Dallas.

I think it's much, much worse for guards than it is for bigs. Especially for guards who have to change directions all the time. Boogie does that too to a certain degree but that's really not comparable. He's much more crafty and relying on bulldozing through the lane than he is explosive.

But I'm not sure how you avoid it as N.O only played him around 30 minutes the next 2 games.

Could be a cumulative effect type thing

he's a big man who doesnt really rely on explosion... he will have to play like Zach Randolph for a while, which he definitely can... basically, back to the basket... bang bodies and score down low... and Cousins is great at that.

Cousins loves to get the ball at the top and dribble his way in for a layup/dunk...the dude has handles for a big man. He relies on his slitherness if thats a word lol. This is gonna impact him BIG time

This sucks and puts the pelicans in a tough spot they don’t have the scoring without Cousins to go deep into the playoffs and to far gone to tank

I think cousins is a grade a a-hole, but one should never cheer for an injury. It just can’t be justified morally speaking

Oh wow... just when the Pels were clicking and he was having the best season of his career... this happens. He would've made his first playoffs this year. Really sucks that this is happened to him.

Didn't Ruday Gay have the same injury last year? And he came back to play well enough. Boogies free agency should be interesting. Does he have a player option?

That was the league owned Hornets, not the Pelicans. Just don’t ever let the league own a team again.

But neither do I condone the policing of thought, and I find it funny that some measly comment has mods/others threatening people for expression about an NBA celebrity. Someone is happy about a Cousins injury? Big surprise. Deep down inside I'm sure there are plenty of people who feel that way, and its OK.

Well, I can say as a Celtics fan that MAYBE this clears the way to possibly get Davis, but beyond that, why would I want Cousins injured? As a big NFL fan (and I imagine most here), injuries still aren't fun to see happen, no matter how often they do. I'm not down with someone outright celebrating it for some veiled reason like "karma".

If I identified purely as a Nuggets fan (which I am), then surely you could understand how this could come off as good news to me right? I wouldn't ever try and celebrate this, but my point is that if I did, it shouldn't come off as appalling or a shock to anyone. It just isn't worth it to engage, and it isn't worth it trying to implement rules now to allow people to think or feel the way they do with regard to an NBA celebrity.

Just so we're clear, the guy who actually got a strike said "Awesome news". I don't care what benefit your team may gleam from this, that's not cool. Another said "karma"; again, that leaves so little room for interpretation, even less than it helps with your bet.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but crossing lines like that is no way to make a living on the internet or IRL, forget just here.

This impacts everything for the Pelicans. Do they max him out? Does AD want to wait around for his recovery or go somewhere to win immediately ?

Definitely a franchise changing injury.

Turning down that trade got them AD.

Edit: They turned down more talent, but tanking matters. Being bad got them AD, you can't deny that Laker bois.

No. AD came with the team when the league sold it. They had to find a buyer.

That's awful. Achilles is really hard to come back from. Wishing Cousins a good recovery.

On a side note, who replaces Cousins on the AS team?

punishment for the lane violation (which of course the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) refs didn't call because why would they enforce the rules).
