Monk is an end of rotation player on a winning team. Not a difference maker and certainly not worth using cap space on for even a 1 yr deal.

We’d be better off giving dinwiddle 1yr 25m than monk 1yr 5m

Monk is going to Texas or LA. Superior blow in those parts of the country.

Is it bad that I've been thinking the same thing? This would be a horrible move. Now remember the Knicks were trying to get him mid season.

I mean, you gotta hit the cap floor! Makes Robinson redundant, but there's worse additions.

What are the chances he's recruited Lowry to join him on the Knicks? Slim to none right but Clippers aren't who they thought they would be. Maybe maybe not

The chances are incredibly low, he wants to live in San Diego, also is any guy with a ACL tear really going to play for Thibs after years of basically setting his own schedule with the Raptors and Clippers? I really doubt Thibs would adhere to his minutes limits or load management

So basically Kawhi's going to sit out a year and get paid, what, $50M to do it?

And most of that time he'll hang out in San Diego and maybe drop in on the Clippers once a week if they're lucky?

Just please sign Lonzo. Work a sign and trade with some of those Detroit 2nds, or even that garbage Charlotte pick. I know he’s not a perfect fit, but he’s young, great height and a good 3/D guy with good passing. I just don’t want any guys like Fournier or Schroeder, good players who are about to exit their prime while being overpaid. You know if we sign those 2 they will be dead weight once the ink dries on those deals.

In summation, Lonzo and 1 year deals so we have 1 max heading into next year.

I'm at the point where Lonzo, Fournier and Hart would be good Just no to Schroeder, Dennis or Ricky. 8-)

Would you guys be upset if our off-season became Dame, Drummond, and Melo?

Gimme Cam Payne and Duncan Robinson and let’s go.
Shooting would be ridiculously improved.

the difference is that the improvement in RJ and Randle and the subsequent contracts they will receive necessitate spending money now.

the FO can not want anymore because RJ's RFA max is coming and his salary will occupy a significant portion of the cap. Randle's new contract will also be a significant pay raise.

the only way to ensure that the cap is managed correctly is to spend it all before we give Randle and RJ extensions.

So you want the Knicks to 'spend it all' on overpaying mediocre talent to become a treadmill team because of this time line you believe they are bound to?

we've discussed this before many many times on the board

whatever you think of any players is completely immaterial. we're spending all of the capspace by RJ's max, and that is guaranteed.

The other players are material, if the Knicks overpay for mediocre talent they are a treadmill team not a contender. Did you miss that part?

If the Knicks can underpay for quality talent then when they do use up all the cap space it's a team that contends...not pretends.

This is the point!
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Winslow might be a decent bench piece. He might want a few years but there is also a chance he would be ok with a decent salary for a year to show he can be healthy
