Eh, I think that’s a bit of a spin. The players available at #2 in this draft are not nearly as valuable. You’re not getting an All-Star for it. And Mitch is already more than just a good starter, who projects to be even better. He’s very efficient and his defense is stellar. Once he improves on committing fouls, he can be elite in that department.
I like Mitch and wouldn’t mind keeping him at all... I’d prefer Wiseman, but not giving up a king’s ransom to get him.
Mitch is not and has never been a good starter. I hope he's capable of becoming one which is why we're interested, but that's a chance we're taking by trading for him.
You rejected my previous trade. The starting point for discussions is obviously #2 for MitchRob and #8, agreed? But MitchRob imho isn't enough compensation to move from #2 to #8 which is why I asked for another first.
I understand that you're probably not going to make a huge improvement this coming year so your first next season is valuable and that's why I attached a bunch of protections to it. I doubt it would convey in 2021, probably a little better than 50/50 that it conveys in 2022.
That said, I recognize even a likely 2022 lottery pick is a valuable thing which is why I offered the Warriors 2021 1st that even with lottery protections will almost certainly convey.
If you still think that's too much, what would you offer in addition to the starting point of MitchRob and #8 for #2?
I wouldn’t be looking at Mitch and the 8th as a starting point... just Mitch for #2 straight up. I don’t see how you can say he isn’t a good starter. I watch all the games... I’m not seeing what you’re seeing. If you said “I’d rather have Mitch than Wiseman”, why would NY need to add to Mitch then? I’m not putting the #2 on a pedestal this year... I’m looking at this as Mitch for Wiseman... which is what it is.
If #2 is worth Mitch. Then Minny should be happy to take Paschall for the #1 then with that logic.
