So lets say Caron, Haywood, Roddy B, and a pick or something. That still makes them a much better team. Ian Mahinmi would just take Haywoods role, and thats assuming they dont make anymore additional moves which they might.

Cmon bro. That team is scary. Lets not make Brendan Haywood a God now. He plays 19 mpg. Yeah Cuban turns the roster over alot, but Melo is on a different level than any of his past moves. Him and Dirk would be insane.
It is not that simple. It is not about making Haywood god. You realize that Boston lost to the Lakers last year because Perkins went down?
This is about chemistry. You plug Melo into Butler's role? Butler is an above average defender. Will Melo give that intensity? Especially given he is not even sure he wants to be there. Dallas is there in terms of talent. They already beat San Antonio, Miami etc. this year. They need continuity and chemistry and all the big men they can keep at this point. Not another scorer no matter what the name is.
Except Cuban has had a history of turning over his roster to chase a player. Also, Caron Butler may not match Melo's contract for trade purposes, but add Deshawn Stevenson's expiring, and it works out fine:

I believe Dallas also has some mid-level TPE's that they can use to swap with Harrington or JR Smith's contracts for even more immediate savings.
Beaubois + 1sts is a crappy package though so I'm not really worried about Dallas. But if somehow Denver does deal him there, cause they refuse to deal with NY out of spite, even if we offer a better package, then I'd be very worried that Melo resigns with the Mavs.
