haha so chicago fans arnt the only ppl who HATE NY fans?

My question wasnt about Chicago S&T tho. What im asking is if LBJ was to tell Cleveland that he he Def going to leave, would you want the cavs to let him walk, or would you want to try and work out some sort of S&T? or would it depend on what team he wanted to go to?

Also im not really sure what TPE is

TPE = traded player exception

If a teams takes less money back in a trade than they give out, they receive a TPE for as long as one year to use. The TPE can be split, but not combined with other exceptions to aquire one player.

And Cleveland would do a S&T as long as they don't have to take back wasted stuff like Eddy Curry or something like that.

Rumor: LeBron to sign 3 year contract extension

Post#184 » by heathmalc » Wed Jun 9, 2010 6:32 pm

It was first reported by Peter Vecsey, that LeBron was leaning toward a three year contract with the Cavaliers. He reported it early yesterday morning in an article in the New York Post.

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/t ... 8e8MUDbtlL

There are rumors going around that LeBron is close to signing a 3 year extension with the Cavaliers, and that Tom Izzo will accept the Head-coaching position with the Cavaliers. Yahoo sports reporter, Adrian Wojnarowski , using his twitter account has made the comment that Izzo was looking for assistants, and particularly a top assistant with winning experience.

According to the rumors, LeBron is expected to sign the extension and Izzo is expected to sign on as Head-Coach before the draft. That seems to go against what most pundits believe, thinking that LeBron wont make a decision until mid- July.

Another rumor that is going around is that the Raptors, Kings and Cavaliers are working on a large, multi-player trade.

- In the trade thread on this forum, I hypothesized a trade with Sacramento, and a 3-way with the Kings & Toronto; the latter including Chris Bosh. I doubt that the rumored trade includes Chris Bosh... but I wouldn't be upset if it did.

Those of you that get on XM radio, or AOL radio, go to the Sports-talk station out of Los Angeles, they are talking about these rumors right now.

I think that rumor is BS. The Raptors have nothing we need if you exclude Bosh.

I'm going to be very upset if we offer Toronto expirings for Hedo and #13 though. #13 isn't worth a whole lot to us and Hedo is terrible.

Hedo would go to Sacramento... Where he came from, and where they wouldn't mind having him.

Not sure why Sacramento would want an overpaid Turkoglu

Says who?

They already have a glut of forwards, all of whom are much better/cheaper options than Hedo.

Certainly, Chicago fans can get giddy to the point they don't think straight

until this past week or so most bulls real gm'ers did not think they were getting lebron. now the majority do. still getting ahead of themselves, i think, but not entirely unreasonable

I called it when the Bulls sign Ben Wallace that it was a huge mistake that they would regret and it was and they did. But Bulls fan ignored the numbers showing Wallace would not make them a better team

signing ben wallace ended up being a mistake. but it wasn't so clear-cut at the time. he was coming off a few consecutive DPOY awards and his numbers had not slipped much by the end of his detroit run. so i'm not sure where your "numbers showing wallace would not make them a better team" are coming from. and, in fact, the bulls were significantly better the year after they signed wallace. then his play deteriorated rapidly

Chicago fans think they can get Lebron in a S&T and then add another piece with their cap space.

no sign and trade necessary. but otherwise the scenario is quite possible

Third, Lebron will not want to have to play in the shadow of MJ's legacy

well, he has worn #23 since he was a teenager

I actually disagree completely about your take on the Ben Wallace signing. It was completely the wrong type of player for the Bulls all along. The Bulls had always been a tough defensive team but what they needed was someone to play center that would at least be a threat on offense. Instead they signed Ben Wallace who was clearly declining to a contract well more than his worth.

That is highly unlikely though. LeBron has no post game, and is a mediocre shooter on the rise. With LeBron's supposed work ethic, those or two facets of his game that he should be able to improve upon.

lebron's 3 pt shooting, if that's the best indicator, hasn't improved since his 2nd season

LeBrons 3 point shooting is actually pretty good. We just need to work on his judgment regarding which ones he should take. If he just didn't do those stupid heat checks he's probably be hitting 37-38% of them.

even at the time of this signing it was agreed that we were overpaying and that he was past his prime, but he was the best free agent option out there at that time. we liked our young core and wanted to take the next step. took us from 41 to 49 wins and then the whole team collapsed the following season. no question wallace was a big part of that. showed little leadership

i'll take your word for that. but certainly he's never been a bad 3 pt shooter outside of his rookie year

Eh, nothing really to dislike. It's typical idiotic "New York speak". It really has no basis other than to say "everyone wants to play here". Heck if that were actually true, they would have had some darned good teams in that last 30 yrs.

How badly does LeBron leaving hurt Cleveland?

Post#197 » by ajmil0 » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:58 pm

Hey Cleveland fans,

I wrote an article on Bleacher Report that I would like to get some feedback on as I am from Chicago, but I did a fair amount of research on what LeBron James means to the city of Cleveland financially and figured that would be an interesting angle to take. I would like to know from people who actually live in Cleveland if what I'm saying makes sense or is a load of garbage. Here it is:

Thanks for your feedback.

Great, spam!
...I read it anyway.

I think using the worst financial crisis sinse the great depression as a backdrop to a story about a basketball player potentially leaving through free agency is inherently flawed.

Cleveland does have its problems but they're largely political and, a core of undereducated voters will continue to make the same mistakes whether LeBron is around or not.

Cleveland relies on manufacturing but also has a large banking and medical presense. While more diversity would be great, it isn't the one trick pony that Detroit was.

The city proper size is completely irrelevant to the point your making. You should be using the metro-area and Cleveland is the 17th largest in the country (you mention 18th but I assume that's with consideration to two LA teams).

The team's market value has little to do with the local economy.

Your state residence argument is nonsensical. If the Cavaliers aren't paying James they'll be paying someone else, plus James may maintain residence in the state anyway (if we wanted to live in NY for instance, he'd already be there).

I think the metro will be hurt psychologically more than economically.

Thank you... I hate how outsiders think they have our city figured out. This is the correct statement. I don't think LeBron leaving will change that much to be honest. Like tidho said. If that money isn't being paid to LeBron... It'll paid to someone else.

Here's another article from the Bleacher report which sums up how I feel about the Lebron free agency situation pretty well. I agree with Manny Phresh's and tidho's view of the previously posted Bleacher Report news link about the economic impact of Lebron's decision.

King Nothing: Why Leaving Cleveland Could Hurt LeBron James' Image.

I’m not speculating on whether he leaves or not, or even where he goes. All I will say is that if he leaves, it will be a far bigger hit to his image.

Losing is one thing. But everyone hates quitters. Almost as much as they hate disloyalty.

For LeBron to leave Cleveland for greener pastures right now, he will be setting himself up to be charged with both.

To leave now for New York, Chicago, or Miami… it would basically be the equivalent of taking a dump on the city of Cleveland and the entire Cavaliers organization. While this may not matter much to him personally, it won’t make him look any better. In fact, it makes him look like a complete arsehole.
