Came up with a very interesting trade scenario, hard to tell if it exactly works with ESPN TradeMachine down at the moment and TradeChecker not allowing you to run it with a guy who has just been signed....but right before the deadline, Chandler is tradeable...I estimated his salary this year to be a little less than $14.0mil (since his deal is reportedly 4 yrs $58mil):
To Magic:
Amare, David Lee, Monta
To Warriors:
Ryan, Redick, Tyson
To Knicks:
Dwight, Hedo
Knicks:
Douglas Fields Melo Hedo Dwight
GSW:
Curry JJ Wright Ryan Chandler
Magic:
Jameer Monta JRich Amare Lee
Which team wouldn't do it, and why? I actually think it makes ALL THREE TEAMS better to be honest.
Warriors obviously wanted Chandler this offseason, they went hard at him. Plus they get a cheaper version of Lee in Ryno, and a Monta SG replacement in JJ. Improves their defense (Marc Jackson would love a Chandler) and their shooting.
NYK sounds very very willing to gamble on Dwight, and Chandler isn't working in Dantoni's system. Amare + Melo on same team is tough because both are ball-dominating players. Hedo plays well with Dwight as we have seen. Having a top 3 scorer in league in Melo as well as best defender/top 2 rebounder in Dwight is a lethal combo. They are also surrounded with solid pieces/role players.
Magic get back 3 all-star quality players for Dwight+Hedo in Monta, Amare, Lee. All who would probably play well off one another. Yes, we are giving up some of our young talent, but we are getting back a load of talent ourselves. That core would also be locked up for a few years. Another option would be to keep Hedo and throw in Jameer+Q instead to make it work financially (which would give NYK some more defense in Q, D12s friend in Jameer, and improve their backcourt or give them another scoring punch off the bench).
I like our team there to be honest. I actually prefer throwing in Jameer+Q and keeping Hedo for a lineup of:
Monta JRich Hedo Amare Lee
We wouldn't be very deep, but neither is Miami, nor is Boston, nor is Chicago, nor are the Lakers.
Please no "I just want picks" responses, the front office supposedly has said they want to remain competitive by getting back veteran talent.

Fixed. This is more likely to happen for Dream Trades.
FYI. Dwight plays for the Magic. Only those interested in having Dwight leave the Magic are making up these rumors. No actual truth or words from Magic, their players or Dwight himself to support this false drama.

Dwight is playing for the Magic now. This isn't NBA2k12 where hypothetical trades are fun. This is real life. Dwight may have made that trade demand over a month ago. Everything since then has been speculation. Nobody knows what is going on in Dwights mind, but we do know that the Magic organization and Dwight Howard are not thinking trade, but Chicago Bulls. As fans, we should support them.
I seriously doubt that Dwight is going to leave, he is just forcing the Magic to make the right improvements before he makes a decision, which won't happen until the off season. Especially, if Addidas is going to offer him $250 million, he can wait as long as he likes.
Dwight himself said that he is not thinking about trades, but only the next game.
By just making these speculative trades, people here may be inadvertently feeding Media trolls like ESPN and their google searches to feed their hypothetical rumors.

I just had to comment - each of those would quite possible be the WORST defensive team in the history of the NBA - seriously, just historically bad.

Well, they're better than the Suns teams who got to the WCF, what, twice?

YosemiteSam wrote:No way - Amare is worse than then due to his knees, Monta is disinterested and terrible at D, Lee is ridiculously bad at D, Richardson has lost mobility as he's aged, Hedo is slow and inconsistent, and Jameer is too short unable to check anyone over 6'1". Those Suns had Marion, GHill, and others that were good to OK at D

The "three teams" Dwight supposedly wants to go to (NJ, DAL, LAL) are a combined 8-15 so far this year, with a combined 8 game losing streak at the moment. We are 5-2
The Mavs look HORRENDOUS thus far, kinda odd.
