Can somebody for the 49ers scheme around his personality/temperament (if it hasn't changed much)? :)

Hey, if we get Riddick I'm all good.

Hearing a lot of positive feedback from fans with Riddick. Perhaps our hot candidate?

I'm not sure fans have been as in agreement with Riddick since Harbaugh.

Both the San Francisco HC and GM openings just got a lot less appealing.

Apparently people were re-tweeting a fake Jay Glazer account with that news.

I agree I would love both, especially Shaw. Unfortunately he is likely staying in college. Riddick already came out and said he thinks Niners job is most attractive. Hmmm :)

Yhea, everything I've read about Shaw tells me that he loves it in Palo Alto and isn't really looking to join the NFL ranks, but who knows. I'd still try and kick the tires on him a little bit. I love his ability to teach and I think his demeanor and interpersonal skills translate really, really well to the NFL.

As for Riddick...he's probably my #1 guy for the GM position. Just a really smart, well-grounded guy that seems to understand the big picture when it comes to top to bottom team-building.

I'm with you on Shaw. He & McDaniels are my 2 favourites out there. I'd probably go w/ Shaw if I could choose.

I'm not as big a fan of Riddick. Wanted Ballard from KC, but he aint bittin'. He was, by far, my favourite name out of the bunch. 2nd place is a distant 2nd.

I'd probably go w/ Nick Caserio now that Ballard isn't an option. If they hire Caerio, I'd probably want McDaniels as the coach because they've worked together in the past.

If Caserio comes I think it's automatic it would be with McDaniels as I just don't see him leaving the Pats unless he's able to roll with a coach that he wants which presumably would be McDaniels.

McDaniels seems intent on getting an HC job but Caserio and his intentions are a mystery right now.

All we know is the 49ers have requested permission to speak with him but we don't know if he's accepted or rejected that offer. I'm assuming since we haven't heard of a rejection yet that he'll speak with them but we don't know how serious he is about leaving. Because at the very least he'll hear them out since they are going to New England anyways to talk to McDaniels and the fact they are talking to McDaniels probably gives him a reason to listen to them.

Sean McCay is gonna interview for HC on Monday.

Jimmy Raye III will interview for GM.

Do you have to Rooney the GM spot as well?

I'm thinking yes as I consider GM a "senior football operation position".

Obviously Riddick qualifies for this so this makes me think the interview with Raye III is legitimate. The Colts don't get good press on their GM'ing so I'm not sure what role Raye III played in that. Grigson could be out any day.

McVay is interesting because he obviously can run (or at least help run) a very successful offense. However is he really ready?

McVay / Wolf would be cool. Both have a lineage of people who had great careers in the NFL (grandfather & father respectively).

Bills are easily the least attractive HC opening and I don't think it's even close.

There are some valid points in the article but some I disagree with and some are short sighted.

Oddly enough the fact that they fired Tomsula and Kelly back to back and with the combination of a new GM it's probably one of the most secure jobs out there right now. You'd probably at least have 3 years before there would be any serious talks of your job being in jeopardy.

And when new coaches come in they typically have their own systems they want to install so the face they have to replace Kelly's system really isn't anything uniquely unusual.

Also a lot of people are underrating the appeal to coaches of jumping into a situation with a GM they really want to work with and having a clean slate.

The roster is barren but as long as they can find a solution to the QB spot and draft well it's really not that long of a project to rebuild the roster to relevancy. Just look at this upcoming draft in that they're going to have 9ish picks to work with and 7 of those are basically at the top of the round. In the NFL it's really not a long process to get back to being a good team as long as you have the right people in place.

Based on their history, the only two people in the league that might be harder to pry away from their respective teams than Caserio would be the great Ozzie Newsome himself (Ravens), and his assistant, the great Eric DeCosta. The 49ers have had interest in DeCosta for about a decade and have never come close to getting him, at least reportedly.

Anyways, I would caution anybody to not get excited about Caserio, but who knows? These types of things are not exactly easy to predict no matter how much one studies them.
