I'm saying his actions bely his words. He was really hoping he didn't have to pick so low, or else why go through all the shenanigans (pulling starters with the lead, benching Boucher in a UFA year). If he was that confident 3 was as good as 12, he wouldn't have needed to be so shameless in his approach. To me, his comments are just common GM speak. They're always happy with where they draft, and they always get their guy, who they always had mocked higher.

I don't really think he is, I've been consistently saying the only result he wanted to avoid was the play-in and "accidentally" making the playoffs which would have resulted in no chance at Flagg and being locked in at 15th while getting curb stomped by Cleveland. That would have been a disastrous result for the season we had. He took those measures because our end of season schedule was a joke and those teams in the play-in spots were struggling badly.

I don't think there was much of a chance of the play-in at that time. There was a consistent message through the media outlets that they were still aiming for top 5. Even still, if you didn't want to win both play-in games you could throw those games with the same measures.

Through 57 games

Raptors 18-39
Bulls 22-35

4 games back, you don't think we had a chance at making the play-in?

lol c'mon throwing a play-in game? How realistic does that sound?

Many compare him to OG, but does he have a higher ceiling? I like what I've seen on highlights but I'm not familiar with his game at all. Seems like a team player with a lot of physical gifts but kept his game simple and did the little things to help his team win. Physically he's exactly what Masai looks like in a wing, he's already a good shooter and a smart player, I wonder what he would look like if he worked on his dribble...

Yeah, those comparisons need to stop. Not even in the same ballpark as a defender and less versatile on that end as well. OG is DPOY-level. Still, Bryant is solid on that end, and the shot is much further along than OG at the same age. Neither player is particularly good on the ball, and I don't suspect Bryant will be asked to do much of it in the league.

Thanks for the breakdown, would you draft him at #9?

I’m lower than others on Bryant, but not because I don’t think he’ll be good, just that I think he replicates a lot of what we already have on the roster and I don’t think he has a particularly high ceiling. For instance, I like Cedric Coward (who should be available 10 or more spots down from Bryant) almost as much, and I’m more confident he’ll be a good shooter in the league.

I would rather take a little risk at #9, or at least pick someone with a little more to their game. We might not be back in the lottery for a while. Otherwise, I would look at trading down before picking Bryant

Tre if you were lower on him
Coward
Fleming
Riley
Bryant

gotta wait on testing for some others

Tre deff could go 3rd or 4th if 76ers have questions about Ace....Fleming/Bryant may have raised their stocks but i doubt open shooting drills + measurements really matter all that much to scouts...Its something to add to the scouting reports but most the gms know who these guys are already....The 5 vs 5 runs tom should be interesting though...

Spurs fans on twitter talking about they already have Fox and maybe they should trade the pick since they won’t need Harper.

I wonder if we offered the 9th pick and Ingram for the 2nd and filler they take it?

Ingram, fox, wemby? Not bad.

We essentially get the 2nd overall pick for Kelly, brown, this years pick and next years 1st.

Who are those high ceilings dudes that should be available at 9 in your opinion?

Only makes sense if they trade players already on their roster (e.g. Cam Johnson). They need as many swings at bat as they can get. I wouldn't be giving up draft capital if I was them

Realistically? I like Fears and think he can figure it out over time. His craftiness and ability to get to the rim in the half court is something we desperately need. For a similar reason, I also like Traore. Big body guard with great speed and a knack for getting to the basket. Kon is probably third - while not the flashiest, I see him being an impactful player in the league for a long time and able to run offenses for stretches. I would understand KM and Queen, but would be queasy the whole time. If Kon is gone, unless I have a good feel for KM or Queen, I would probably look to trade down in the draft (and pick up another future asset).

I doubt they move down that far in the draft for a injury prone Ingram....I think they just take Harper or they trade it for a legit game changer like Giannis....I think they know in the Western Conf they need a better upgrade than Ingram to win....Harper looks like a stud as well.

He should go in the lottery imo. He put up insane shooting numbers throughout his college career. His measurements are even more insane (7'2 wingspan with a 8'10 standing reach). Also fills the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, steals, blocks. Plus, he's a young senior, still only 21 years old.

If shooting is what you're looking for in a prospect then yeah, you should probably stay away from him. But let's keep it in context, he shot less 3s in his two seasons at South Carolina than Scottie did in his freshman season at Florida State. He was mainly working from the mid range and in.
