Moral of the story. Draft better, hold better chips to trade.
Yeah, as much as people here like Deni, Hali is clearly the better player and the better trade piece. I don't think the trade makes either team much better, but Indy has a very efficient group at the wings/point with
Brogdon, Hali, and Duarte - along with Hield. None of them are true shot-creators, but they are high BBIQ players. Sabonis is a helluva player, but I'm not sure he'll be a better fit there than he was at Indiana.
Yeah, wish we could have got in on this...
agreed, I think it makes the guard short Indiana much better. Haliburton, Brogdon, Duarte & Hield will be a fine backcourt rotation to go next to Turner. Now they need to turn one of the guards around for a young forward.
For Sacramento, it is puzzling. They need forwards & they need depth. Although Sabonis will probably fit fine next to Holmes. I don't think the following gets you into the playoffs in the west. Sigh...guess they need to hit on their lottery.
Fox/Mitchell
Davis/Holiday/Fox
Barnes/Harkless/Holiday
Sabonis/Barnes/Metu
Holmes/Sabonis/Len/Jones
For the record - I think it makes both teams better but Indy got the better part of this trade by a bunch.
