I don't think so either...but if he doesn't do you really let Schoen pick his new HC and make the likely QB selection?
Usually GM’s get 2 coaches but I wouldn’t give him the chance. Outside of nailing this past draft, none of his moves have worked out and every position group is as bad, if not worse, than when they got here. Maybe if he fixed one of the lines he’d have something to hang his hat on but it’s really grasping at straws.
I keep trying to talk myself into letting them stay cuz it does feel so quick to cut ties with a GM and I keep thinking of those clips from hard knocks wanting to trade up for Daniels but knowing they had editorial control just lingers in the back of my mind. I used to work as a production assistant on some reality tv shows and one documentary and know how much coaching producers can do to get the answers they need. Hbo probably has more integrity than that but idk how these guys could have nailed the best QB in the draft after missing on every other move. Probably looking for an excuse to keep Schoen cuz I keep expecting Mara to pick someone even worse.
I get ya but what top tier coaching candidate wants to come aboard with a GM on the hot seat which clearly Schoen is whether he makes it past this year or not.
On top of that his class this year had been good. Nabers certainly is a talent and Nubin/Phillips look like they can be starters in the league. Does that make up for his first two classes being a disaster now? Also Nabers is already a diva. Immensely talented but not like how he's already handily the losing. Its one thing to be a competitor and not be happy about losses...but just like your teammates didn't throw you under the bus for losing the game in Wash when you dropped that pass I expect him to not throw his teammates and coaches under the bus now (especially as a rookie).
But that is the least of our problems I just say that to say this. I wouldn't say he knocked out any class yet and I just don't think we will be in play for the top HC if we don't bring in a GM that aligns closely with that HC.
Daboll/Schoen seem like a package deal for me.
