I like the move and I think it'll pay off, but the Nets need some work
It is. When coaches are interviewed do they not have to show there offensive and defensive scheme's and how they can first coach the team on and then implement them? How can Kidd seriously have anything in place to even begin being a coach? What does this say about the NBA as a league if a team can just play off of talent and still be competitive?
You would think after seeing what the spurs have done over the years that teams would invest more in systems and development.
Did Mark Jackson have all that prepared?
As for the coach hiring process in general....that is an interesting question. An elite organization like the Lakers hired Mike D'Antoni over Phil Jackson during a short phone call interview. And they employed Mike Brown a season before that in a similar fashion, and both of those guys are more like running jokes in the league.
I don't like comparing coaching versus the Spurs since it's not fair...Pop is more than just a coach and had more power than even Phil Jackson in his coaching prime
But I do agree teams should invest more in systems and development. Kidd will bring defensive accountability in the Nets system and for development Kidd has experience working on one of his own weaknesses (3 point shooting) which could crossover too
