Rockets not doin that. What do they need Tyson for? If they can't play asik next to Dwight, you damn sure can't play Tyson next to him and he's not a back up right now..

Toronto saves around 14 million.
Knicks keep 2015 plan alive.

Under this scenario, OKC can replace three pieces of their rotation with an upgrade at the starting C position and only add $29,714 to their payroll, keeping them clear of luxury tax. We solve our C position long term and add a cheap wing prospect.

I think Tyson will complain. He's a well respected veteran in the league who has won a championship being the defensive anchor. He then signs with a team he believes is on the upswing only to be traded to a second tier championship team that is still a decent bit away from being true contenders and doesn't start for them? Yeah, he's not going to be okay with that.

2)that's just what you think Tyson would think. Doesn't make it so. I happen to think otherwise of what he would think about getting traded from "a team he believes in on the upswing"

kg, regardless of what you think of him, that's not enough for melo.

1) Ok? You said that Asik and Lin expire after next season...well...so does Tyson. I don't get why you brought this up if the contracts all end at the same time.
2) Ok. Cool. I still don't see a player like Tyson willing to play backup on a team that is NOT a contender.

brought it up b/c it's not the length but the $amount that matters in resigning Parsons while keeping under the tax. our package is about 2million less than Asik/Lin. so if someone offers 4/$48 for Parsons, in 2014-2015 with our Package houston will have more wiggle room to match without going over the tax. I use that figure b/c I'm guessing that's the high end offer.
Only reason rumors are coming up now as opposed to later is b/c of Asik and his agent.

There is no legitimate Lin / Asik to NY rumor. They are all bogus and made up.

So let me start by saying I'm not in favor of trading Melo but this is an interesting piece by Tommy Beer on hypothetical Melo trades. I personally think the only one that makes reasonable sense and I would consider doing is the PHX trade.
Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton and $2 million in cash
Suns send: Emeka Okafor, Goran Dragic, 2014 first-round draft pick, and a 2015 first-round pick
Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton and J.R. Smith
Grizzlies send: Zach Randolph, Tayshaun Prince, Ed Davis, Kosta Koufos and a future first-round pick
Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Cole Aldrich
Dallas sends: Shawn Marion, Shane Larkin, Brandan Wright, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Ricky Ledo and two future first-round picks
Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony, Beno Udrih, Kenyon Martin and Cole Aldrich
Wizards send: Marcin Gortat, Otto Porter Jr., Trevor Ariza, Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton, 2014 second-round pick and 2016 first-round pick
Knicks send: Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin
Celtics send: Kris Humphries, Brandon Bass, Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger and a 2014 first-round pick
What are your guys thoughts...would you enterain any of these deals for Melo? I personally feel most of these deals are pretty crappy.

Not basing this on any legitimate or illegitimate rumor.
I also think that the Knicks are looking at longer, bad contracts to try to keep Melo--not necessarily based on rumors.
this is just one trade in which the Knicks can--match contracts and not mess up their 2015 plans for a C and Pg that is worth trading for b/c one of the players is disgruntled.
One of the few trades for worthwhile parts that is in the realm of possibility--b/c if it was slam dunk for either side--they would be doing it in real life.
Knickstape1214 wrote:
But the Rockets have no need to make that trade...
As for slam dunk trades being done in reality - most trades that make sense for both sides never come to fruition.
