The pick in this will be worse because Butler will make their draft spot higher.

The Bulls don't want to be Orlando 2.0.

magic don't want to be bulls...or even less then bulls after trade

Where else can the Magic get a star?

But where can the Bulls get a better package of young players and picks?

Celtics and Philly. They both have draft picks and young players.

Teams could have assets, but still not have the desire to chase him. Like I don't see any reason why Philly would target him... and even if they did, how badly they would pay up to get him. Celtics are a prime team to bring up trade ideas for him, but they have been trying to get Butler since before the 2016 draft. There's a reason why the stalemate continues.

This gets the Magic a star to build around and it lets Chicago recharge. They don't look like they have enough, so this may a way they can move forward.

So let me get this right this trade is "closer" to Butlers value if Orlando offers the following ..

Elfrid Payton
Evan Fournier
Aaron Gordon
Mario Hezonja
'17 1st rd pick

So (3) of Orlando current starters a likely top 5 pick in a stacked draft and the 5th pick from last years draft and it's only closer to Butlers value?!

If it indeed takes this much to acquire Butler I hope Orlando stays FAR FAR away even though I know this is a simple case of over valuing Butler/under valuing Orlandos assets.

Yes, I think that would be fair for their value now. You can take Hezonja out if it makes you feel better, because I don't think he moves the needle either way. Your 2017 1st round pick will probably be a late lottery pick or 15-20, because of how tight the race is, so that asset isn't worth as much.

The others:

Payton is interesting because Chicago could still use an option at PG.
Fournier is probably Butler's replacement and he's certainly not as good.
Gordon should have an excellent future and is the best asset you are offering.

I'm not trying to diminish your team. Miami, for what it's worth, has the same problem. We have very few assets that would bring back Butler. That's how it goes.

I don't think this is a good idea for Orlando, by the way. I would pass too. I think you need to build behind Aaron Gordon, but the Magic definitely needs help.

The Bulls don't have to trade Butler and they'd be smart not to do so unless they think it's the right trade.

The Suns and Minnesota are two more teams that could come up with a better trade offer than Orlando. Would they? I have no idea.

Philly would trade for Butler to bring in a star who could play with Simmons and Embiid. Would they do that? Again I have no idea. But you asked where the Bulls could get a better package and Philly and Boston are two places.

Yeah, having assets and being willing to give them up for Butler are 2 different things... when I said where, I meant where does it make sense? I don't see those teams being able to put together a better package of youth and picks and I haven't seen an offer mentioned here yet either.

Yes, because none of those guys are anything more than average players and Hezonja is terrible, albeit young. There's a pretty simple reason the Magic are 20-33, their players aren't very good. A thousand cow's ears don't make a Prada handbag, and Hezonja being the 5th pick last year might have mattered in a deal during last year's draft.

and yet bulls only have 5 more wins then magic with butler....hmmmmm

If you're trying to say the Bulls roster is poorly built, I agree with you.

If you're trying to say Butler isn't a superstar, check his on off numbers compared to other superstars and then come apologize.

Neither one of us know what teams are willing to give up for Butler...we're not NBA GMs. What I've said is that two teams, now 4, can offer better deals than Orlando.

And yes it makes sense that a team like Philly would want Butler, especially if they can get him without gutting their team. Next season a team with Embiid, Simmons, Saric, Covington, Butler and a FA (maybe George Hill or Jrue Holiday?) would be pretty good.

If reports are correct Boston has already expressed interest in Butler.

The pick isn't top 5 with Butler on Orlando. Payton right now projects to maybe be an average starter at best, and Fournier is about an average starter. Mario can't get on the court supposedly due to work ethic. I like Gordon a lot but don't know if him and a late lotto pick gets it done, and the rest isn't close to as good as Butler.

really are you sure with all those players gone magic would win more this yr? really? cause bulls with butler only have 5 more wins then magic,,so don't put money on it

Mario doesn't play. Butler is better than Fournier, Payton isn't that good. So yes.

Yeah Orlando is not one superstar away from being a threat in the East.
And I see fans starting to give away Gordon in those trades. I agree he's not that good

Gordon's been way too inconsistent to have a lot of value, and the pick isn't going to be that high. Hezonja's bordering on bust. Fournier is a good, reasonable young player, though he is already on a big money deal.

Not close, imo.
