worst NET rating in the 4th qtr...that needs to be addressed.
Thibs is a fine coach. You or I could coach a good offensive team that was led by two generational offensive talents like JB and KAT.
No we couldn’t but this is what Knicks fans really think though. We could all be great coaches
A lot of games haven’t been competitive by the end. We lost the 4th quarter to the Magic 31-15 but what did that really mean for us at the end of the day? So I don’t put much stock in that
I actually think it’s pretty hard. Look at the Cavs. Same personnel but Atkinson (who I liked) has them at a different level. It also requires some level of leadership and soft skills, too. Some of these coaches, like Doc, they’re not that great but they can get guys to sacrifice, which is important and hard as hell with stars.
I think Thibs and the FO are pretty good at working together in terms of designing the offense and finding the right guys. A few years ago, our personnel wasn’t as good so we were able to cobble together an offense based on offensive rebounding. That was impressive, I thought. The evolution is nice to see. Hell, even Thibs committing to KAT at C is weird (and him and KAT overcoming their drama too)…it really goes against his nature.
There’s still room to grow, of course, but good signs overall I think. Season is long though, and we’re aiming for a ring so we can’t make final judgments yet.
