Because he's pretty good and youngish and this is a good deal. We definitely don't need to tear anything down to the studs that will just prolong the agony. There's not much to be gained by being the worst team vs like the 8th-10th worst team or whatever. No reason to plan to be bad for years on end. This season and next should be it. We should "plan to win" starting in 2026-27.

Yes there is. The worst team has a 52% chance of getting a top 4 pick, and a 14% chance at #1. The 10th worst has a 14% chance for a top 4 pick and a 3% chance at #1. That's significant.
