If we can pry our way into the Warriors Wovles trade for Love we could send Nicholson to the Wolves and eat Lees contract. I get that him and Vuc aren't a great pair on the defensive end but that's looking at the glass half empty. We could potentially be one of the 5 best rebounding teams In the league and Lee is a "Henny guy" through and through. This would officially put us in position to compete for a playoff spot and the best part about the trade is Lee becomes a valuable expiring contract next summer.

Dipo/Payton/Curry
Fournier/B.Gordon/Marble/Green
Harkless/(6th man)Tobias/A.Gordon
Lee/Tobias/KO/Gordon
Vuc/KO/Lee/Deadmond

so we stash the #4 pick deep deep on the bench.

Yea why not. AG is still young and raw but he will only be stashed for 1 season. David Lee would be a great mentor for the kid. We could still play him 10-15 minutes a night his rookie year and by year 2 he will be ready to make a major impact starting in place of Lee or as a starter if Tobias or Vuc play their way out of town and we decide to keep Lee. I hope we can keep both guys but if one of these teams gets trigger happy and offers Tobias or Vuc max we might need to consider letting one walk.

Sorry, but I think that would be a terrible deal.

David Lee is not a Henny guy as you say. He may have great character, but he is not a cost effective basketball player. He contributes significantly in three areas (points, rebounding and assists) that don't necessarily make us a better team in a way that cheaper options could in areas such as rim protection, 3pt shooting etc. all while not being deficient in the areas that are Lee's strong suit. Lee is on the books for the max for the next two years as a player who is not worth max money. "Henny Guys" are the ones who are cost effective for their production (unless you are tanking, see: Maxiell, Jason).

In addition, we have Aaron Gordon who is our #4 draft pick who as you said is probably going to come along slowly... But 10-15 minutes? I have watched Gordon numerous times whether it be in the U19s and at Arizona and I feel pretty confident in saying he could and probably will play anywhere from 15-25 minutes next year, which would be gobbled up by Lee. If Gordon becomes a 25+ minute player in year 2 (not a guarantee, but it is plausible) do you seriously want Lee to be paid 15 million to take away from not Gordon's development, but his production on both ends of the court?

This move is not plausible for the Magic, nor should it be.

Sorry not sorry for the reality check

you would rather Gordon gets trial by fire, and loses confidence as he puts up 3-11 nights on a constant basis?

I'd say 28+ minutes is trial by fire. 15-25 minutes is strategic development.

Trade for David Lee so we can "stash" Gordon on the bench or send him to the D-League? Just the thought of that happening makes me kinda sick..

don't know about Lee but vuc is NOT a bad defender....far from it so he doesn't belong in the worst defensive front court of the league

Gordon is posting 10+ points and 7+ rebounds today. He will impress. I hope Payton looks more confident and aggressive and not like a d leaguer.

Jameer is being interviewed on the Jim Rome show right now.

These overpaid babies in the NBA need to watch/listen to how this guy conducts himself.

One of the classiest professional athletes out there.

Had nothing but great things to say about Orlando..... although he said he isn't quite ready to accept a back-up role yet, regardless of where he ends up, hahahaha.

Fair enough, he is still a starter, let's hope he sign a 3 yrs deal somewhere and come back here after that and end his career here

Oh man, let me see if I can remember.

Rome asked if he was shocked that after 10 years the Magic would just dump him like that.

Jameer said he knew it was coming for awhile now, and that it was a mutual decision.

Rome asked if he had any animosity towards Orlando, and Jameer said that he understands that it's a business, and understands why Orlando felt it was time to move on. He said it was best for both parties.

Rome asked if it was frustrating to transition from a championship contending team to a rebuilding team, and Jameer said that while nobody likes to lose, his goal was to act as a role model and mentor for the young players, and to try to help the team get better every day. He tried to lead by example, and make a positive impact on the young guys. He had no regrets about the past two seasons.

Rome asked Jameer what he'll remember most about his time in Orlando....moments on the court, or moments off the court? Jameer said that he'll cherish his moments off the court the most, being able to do positive work in the community, and being able to meet so many great people in Orlando. He also gave a special shout-out to Rich DeVos, whom he said he learned a lot from over the past several years.

Rome again tried to get Jameer to talk crap about Orlando for the waiving situation, and Jameer just said how thankful he was that the Magic took care of him and his family for the past 10 years, and that he is now looking forward to the next chapter in his life and career.

Rome asked about the Melo/LeBron stuff, and Meer said he isn't following it. He's just focused on his own free agency, which he's excited for, since this is the first time he's experienced it. He said it feels great to be wanted by so many teams, and that he has several contract offers.

Rome asked if Jameer expected to be a back-up on a contending team, and Jameer said he never expects to be a back-up. He said that he'll fight every day in practice to solidify himself as a starter, and that he's always had a starters mentality.

End of interview.

I may not have transcribed it perfectly, but that's pretty much what I remember.

Damn. Great job remembering all that. I listened to that interview as well and I'd never be able to type up a perfect summary of the whole thing just minutes later.

I'm not looking for superstar stats from our rookies this game. However i am expecting a slight improvement of any stat from them all. First games for anyone is always going to get you rattled. I expect them to pace themselves better this time around with a little bit more polished product on the court. Come season opener I think there will be a pretty good jump in improvement from all.
