If they really want to make a move for a young star, it's a shame that the only guy who kind of fits the bill that is requesting a trade is Dragic, who really doesn't fit here.
The only trades that really make sense to me in terms of a "star" would require the other player to request a trade. And to be honest, I'm not really crazy about trading Ross, Valanciunas or our picks.
But these are the two that I could see us going for:
Sac trades: Demarcus Cousins
Tor trades: Ross, Valanciunas, Fields, Our 2015 First Rd Pick, The NY/Denver 2016 First Round pick.
We essentially give up a bunch of our assets to get a great player, and instantly become the team in the east that nobody wants to play. Cousins comes into a good situation: a winning team with good character guys like Lowry, Demar, Amir who work hard and care about winning first.
Sac makes this trade (only if Boogie wants out) because they get back solid value for a star. I still don't think they'd accept it if their hand wasn't forced, because in my opinion you should never trade guys with talent like Cousins.
Or (and this has a less chance of happening:
Tor trades: Ross, Valanciunas, Fields, Our 2015 First Rd Pick, The NY/Denver 2016 First Round pick.
San Antonio trades: Kawhi, and Splitter
We get the perfect complimentary SF to our scoring/chucking backcourt, and a decent replacement for Jonas. San Antonio gets a pretty good return for Leonard. I don't see why they'd want to trade their finals MVP, so I guess it's not that realistic.
