They could've signed him outright, they had the cap space, and CHI had to go into tax to match, something they don't do, but they prefered retaining THJ + signing Bullock.
They were affraid he was another KP...to be fair,he did have a lot of injuries but still,it was worth the gamble...should have,would have,could have...they made the same mistake when they could have gotten Randle for cheap,but everybody was screaming Randle is bad...well, he's a lot better than any other Mavs PF since Dirk(his Best years,not the last)
Even without the injuries, Cavs had him for a full year and still traded him, today he's better the Mitchell IMO.
