From what I've heard, and this is wild, so I don't blame you if you don't believe me. Melo's camp laid out a plan for him to recruit players from other teams. He wants to establish relationships with those guys in hopes they actually come to NY to play with the Knicks. He knew with his current salary wants, Chicago would have to deal Taj. He wanted him in the meeting so he could show he cared and thought Taj and Joakim were winners, so when their FA is up, NY has a legit shot at them. It's called planting the seed. He also wanted to see what other teams are doing and will report back to Phil on that.

If he was, he would've picked different teams. Phil's not worried about Dallas or Houston nor are they trying to recruit Dwight or Harden who have 4 years left on their deals.

Melos whole wont sign if Taj is traded kinda put us in a catch 22 type situation didn't it....

I mean it's almost a no deal deal breaker in the sense that we probably don't have the coin to sign him unless we trade Taj but then he says if we trade him he won't sign with us.

Sounds like a non commitment to me as it puts us in a position where we are damned if we do and damned if we don't.

It's gonna be great to see Mcdermott abusing Anthony with his post moves.

Sorry nitetrain, you didn't disseminate the made up crap from the truth when you received this info. If this was true, there is a 0% chance Jackson would be in LA today. The rest of it just doesn't seem very plausible either, which makes it seem like you have been had.

Wonder if that means as soon as Carmelo re-signs with the knicks he tells Noah and Gibson to demand a trade to the knicks cause Gar and Pax failed again.....I guess it can work.....Anything is possible I guess....

Considering Noah is locked up for two more seasons and Gibson three, I don't believe a word of that.

Well holy snapping duck crap

By my math that just means he left $30m on the table

Just like Wade and Bosh have done in the last 3 and now 2 years moving forward and just like the little 3 have done in San Antone

Bit of this going around !

It's getting to where you have to participate in some form of collusion, and "salary fixing" to be able to compete. It makes $17-18M for Melo look like an awful lot of money.

Here is why I vote: Not Likely.

The picture is clearing up -- Phil does not want Melo to go to Chicago, and he's gonna do whatever he has to do to not let it happen. He knows that Bulls-Melo and Lebron-Heat will mean that Knicks are out of the championship contention for 3 years, at a minimum, especially with the ****-draft pick status from all the bad trades.

He's played it coy, but his #1 priority is resigning Melo, because this is a guy who values offensive superstars first and foremost, and he knows that they're not easy to come by. He's turned soft, skinny scrubs into defensive-minded champions before (Grant, Kerr, Longley, Kukoc -- Gasol, ODOM, Sasha Vujacic), and he might not be coaching the Knicks, but Riley didn't really coach the Heat's last 4 finals appearances yet you can tell Riley's influence is on the coaching staff.

I doubt there's such an impasse, but if Melo refuses to be part of a 1-2 year build before contending (which is a risk in itself), I think Phil will do whatever he can to sabotage any attempt of a S&T to get Melo his money in Chicago. He'd sooner move him out the conference, to Texas or L.A.

And I also think we'll be OK, regardless of the situation, because the Heat seem vulnerable, the Knicks won't be an immediate threat with Melo back, and we would still have 3 new guaranteed offensive options on the roster, as well as room for a 4th with cap-space.

I'm being realistic and hopeful about it. The only crappy scenario would've been Melo to Miami, and that doesn't look like a possibility at all anymore.

Hey, if Bucher can get burned by a source (Bosh back to Toronto!), so can nitetrain.
