What school do you go to? Spring break in mid to late April? :-?

Hunter College, it's a CUNY and all CUNYs have spring break at that time this year.

Not the way I remember it (and this was just a few Years ago).

The Semester starts at the end of January, and Spring Break usually comes in at around the mid-term break (usually around Easter).

Then Finals around the end of May IIRC.

Yeah finals are at the end of May, last year's spring break came earlier too. I think it's because Easter is later this year or something. Not going to complain though, I get to watch my Knicks in the first round, and then head back to school for only 3 weeks of classes (followed by final exams).

Yeah, they usually try to revolve it around Easter (which I agree, it's unusually late this Year).

I went to Baruch (any old school posters would remember the play-fighting myself and fimslim used to have echoing the natural rivalry Baruch and NYU share  ). But I also had to cousins that went to Hunter (one for Psychology, the other for Nursing).

I don't think so, few of my friends go to private colleges and had their spring breaks already.

How is Hunter? I am applying for their Applied Social Research program and hope it's good. Looks good.

So I'm finally getting a TV to bring up to college and I have a few questions -

First, what are the advantages of an internet ready tv? Also, for people who have google tv/have tried it, do you recommend it (probably not going to get it, but I'm just curious)?

Second, is a 1TB external hard drive big enough to hold movies/music/etc, or should I look for a 2TB one?

Third, can anyone recommend a pair of good, not ridiculously expensive, wireless headphones?

Fourth, how do you hook up a MacBook Pro to a TV so I can watch movies/stream online stuff/etc?

In 95% of the games he is.
But ok,that's not the topic.

Can you make Danilo Gallinari mix ? (Knicks)

He was my favorite Knick.

Anyone?

Also, for TVs: how are Vizio/Sony brand televisions (internet TV ready).

1. iTV is not ready yet. They're better add-on devices that do the job much better. You'd be wasting money at this stage and trading off on something else.

2. I'd get a 2TB NAS (which stands for Network Area Storage) HD where you can share media easier across multiple devices. They're easy to setup these days too.

3. Don't use Wireless Headphones, only wired ones. Sorry bro, can't help you here.

4. See #1. :)

5. I've always recommended in order: Samsung, Sharp Aquos, and Toshiba. But take into account two things (your budget, and if you're looking at LCD or Plasma).

Honestly, internet ready TVs are not worth the price tag. Are you going to stream netflix directly to the TV? If you have an XBox or PS3 you shouldn't Go for plasma if you're on a budget. Brands to look at in general: 1. Samsung 2. Pioneer 3. Sony 4. LG

You need an adapter for your mac book. Its like 40$ at the Apple store.

I would stick with the 1 TB external. Especially since you will be using it at college and you will get caught very easily if you try to download torrents using your university's network. 2TB+ is really only worth it if you plan on downloading blu ray movies, but I doubt you will be able to get away with that if you are living on campus.

Also is anyone an MMA fan? Big fight tonight, I'm high on Jones but it is a little ridiculous that he is such a huge favorite over the greatest LHW of all-time.

Thanks for the help Mags, CCC, and RutgersBJJ...much appreciated.

What if the tv already has internet TV? My dad and I checked out the Sony outlet store at Woodbury Commons and we found a 32 inch, Sony Bravio LCD, that had internet TV - for a good price also. The only downside was that it was 720p instead of 1080p.

I really know nothing about the differences between LCD tvs and Plasma tvs except for plasma tvs sometime burn out? I have a PS3 that I plan on bringing with me to school. Side question, I can use an HDMI connector for the PS3 even if the tv is not 1080p, correct? Like the above tv would be fine (720p)? Is there a difference between 1080/780 and LED/LCD?

I'm really not sure what the price limit is because I haven't talked to my dad about it...it's a late birthday present. I just know that the biggest size is 32 inches, and knowing my dad, he's not going to go crazy on the price lol.

If the TV has USB ports, couldn't I just use a regular 2TB/1TB external hard drive? Are there any benefits to using the NAS besides being able to use DLNA to stream media? I'd pretty much be using the drive to backup my school files, music, and tv shows/movies...that's it. Is Western Digital ok? If I do decide to get a NAS, could I directly connect it with my computer when I need to back it up?

I think I found a pair of headphones (see below). The reason I need wireless headphones is because I'm not going to be able to keep the volume high enough for me to be able to hear it when my roommate is asleep. I've read that Sennheiser makes great headphones and these have gotten good reviews for both TV use and iPod use. Any help with this/more info would be great if possible; it not, no biggie. If there are better headphones than this that I can make wireless, that works also. What are some good headphones that you guys not recommend that are not wireless (in case I do find a way to make non-wireless headphones, wireless).

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS120- ... B0001FTVEK

I would get the beats, but I don't feel like spending 250 on the studios. I read that I can get the refurbished ones and send them back to get brand new ones, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that.

I know it's a lot of stuff to ask for help on, but I've gotten good advice here in the past and I'm sure a bunch of posters here know a lot more about TVs/external hard drives than me lol.
