this is my 4 team deal

NY sends Melo, Thomas and Lee out
NY gets Reggies Jackson, Stanley Johnson, Chandler Parsons, Andrew Harrison, Houston 2020 1st round pick, Houston 2022 1st round pick top 10 protected

Houston trades Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, 2020 1st round pick, 2022 1st round pick top 10 protected, 2018 2nd round pick
Houston gets Carmelo and Courtney Lee

Detroit trades Reggies Jackson and Stanley Johnson
Detroit gets Ryan Anderson, Memphis 2018 lottery protected pick and Houston 2018 2nd round pick

Memphis Trades Chadler Parsons, Andrew Harrison, 2018 lottery protected
Memphis gets Lance Thomas, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza

why oh why?

Memphis - they are gutted and committed to something. Gasol and Conley are alone out there right now and Parsons has been a failure. They move Parsons contract and get three rotation players. Thomas fits in perfectly off the bench, Gordon starts at the 2 and Ariza starts at the 3. They all fit perfectly. Major team upgrade on both ends. Costs them a pick.

Det - they move Jackson, which is a priority, and it costs them Johnson, which they can live with. Except they get Memphis' pick so its cool. they love it.

Houston - they get Melo. Its gonna cost them though. The do move Anderson's contract but have to move Ariza and Gordon too. Lee fits in perfectly with them as an Ariza/Gordon replacement. Besides they have Paul and Harden and Melo. They need an off the ball defender like Lee, not Gordon.

NY - we lose melo and have to take on some contracts. Jackson is our starting PG. Its not pretty or popular but its ok. Parsons is our starting SF. Its very popular. He's gonna be a chick magnet and popular player in NY despite his contract and injury issues. However the real gems are 2 picks from Houston, Stanley Johnson who actually might be the starting SF and Harrison who we liked in the draft. Its not the best return but it keep people from getting fired and skewered in the press.

two picks, an young upside guy of quality, a potentially upside PG who can run and score with THjr, and a charismatic SF who can space the floor and moves the ball well and is best on a bad team where he's not the primary offense.

thoughts?

so we give away one of our more attractive options like Courtney Lee, Take the worst contract in the trade in Jackson and Parson's and we still get the lower pics and not Memphis 1st?? Even if we got Memphis first I would cry myself to sleep every night.

the worse the contract is we take back, the better youth/picks will have to be. gimme a drummond/kp front court.

And i don't mind taking on a bad contract as long as it's 2 years or under and we get young assets with that contract in draft picks or young players. I'd probably be alright if that contract is 3 years as long as it's a player that can actually help us whether it be in the starting lineup or off the bench.

Why would Brooklyn?

But just as a comment from a Hinkie fan, buying Carmelo out - completely without strings - would be the surest way to get two or three top five picks in the upcoming drafts. It would be ugly for two years. Secondly, Porzingis would be under the Knicks control for another four or five years. The downside is that Philly owns the Knicks 2018, 2019 and 2021 second-round picks.

I'd buy him out and go for the complete tank.

They are going to shed 8 mil in cap space at the cost of a promising youngster and a 1st rounder??

Nope... I dont see it.

That 8 Million is closer to 28 million after the Luxury Tax so yes, I think they would

They wouldn't.

After looking at the contracts of some of these guys (Noah, Parsons, Leonard, Turner, Jackson, etc.), I'm waaaay past the THJr number.

Fellas and Greenie, so we're looking for a 4th team to take on Meyers Leonard's contact, right?

Why would Memphis or Brooklyn do this, is it because of draft picks that NY, HOU or POR would have to throw in?

Thoughts are we have found our new GM. First guy on here to propose a trade that benefits EVERY PARTY besides The Knicks. Ban this man.

Did you just cite Parsons as a positive pick up and reason by saying he will be a chick magnet?

Chandler Parsons has the worst contract in NBA history. Noah's contract looks like a damn good bargain in comparison

Brooklyn gets another first for next year, a young player in Qi, and Crabbe who they tried to sign last year. Also I believe there something like 22 million away from meeting the salary base and there not looking to compete anytime in the next few years. They should be stockpiling draft picks and young talent.
