For those who missed exactly what Woj said about the Bucks and Giannis.

ETA: It would be utterly devastating, but it's probably an overreaction at this point considering his free agency is 4 years away.

Am I the only one who thinks Boston takes a step back if they basically swap out Crowder/Smart for Hayward?

G.S. getting Nick Young and potentially Crawford is dangerous. If they somehow keep Zara.....ridiculous.

Pat Riley is a god but he's continually wiffed on free agents now that Wade isn't in his prime and just gave $50 million guaranteed to Dion Waiters. Hard pass.

I fear losing Giannis would be the only way to wake up this ownership group.

And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised for them to lose him for nothing.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

The woj comments suck but not surprising or really concerning at this point a ton can happen over the next couple years.

Listening to bill simmons podcast and not a fun listen as a fan of a small market team. One point they touched on was the whole "title or tank" mindset being a negative.

Idk how the cap will look in 2021 when Giannis is ready to hit FA but he'll likely be coming off an All NBA season and potential MVP so he'll be worth a super max. He loves Milwaukee and the city and fans love him back. He'll take the 200mil and love and be happy to stay.

If Giannis leaves in free agency because the team is still trash several years from now then I would probably be done as a fan of the Bucks and the NBA in general. If they can't win a championship with their best player in 40 years then when will it ever happen?

Woj kinda sounded mad at the Bucks org, pretty weird tangent to go on.

Yes, small markets tend to lose their stars when they can't put a good team around them. Crazy stuff, breaking news

We are lucky that Giannis' harrowing journey to the NBA has led him to vocalize the kind of loyalty for Milwaukee we could only dream of.

But things can change quickly and we don't have much margin for error to keep him to say the least.

What I got from that was the organization was an embarrassment, and that's why they'd probably lose him. Not simply: small market = hard to sustain success.

While the hiring process for the GM was a known mess among the NBA universe, what exactly have the Bucks done in the last couple months that was so terrible? The organization is on the upswing like it or not, and probably 1-2 moves away from being a 50+ game winner for the next 4+ years. Woj just comes off as a jerk there imo

Now if we sign Rose to multiple years, go ahead and put the whole organization on blast. At that point it would be clear that they have 0 idea whats going on. Not really seeing the whole "Giannis is watching and thinking about leaving already" angle he is going for though, that arrow is still pointing firmly up

Really? You don't see the front office as being a complete mess, with Kidd taking responsibilities outside his job, the owners trying to run things, and being on different pages . . .
Maybe Horst sort things out, but all indications are he's just a figurehead.

I could be totally off, too.

Agreed, he'll be under orders to come up with "juicy" stuff regularly to justify his salary. When that happens (and it already has) his scoops will become less credible and he'll do more of the "attack" pieces framed as "analysis". ESPN is bleeding cash big time (hence all the layoffs). When they bring someone new in they will expect him to make some waves. Yeah he did it at Yahoo but that's a smaller stage.

And if he doesn't obey these orders then what? ESPN will let him go? Woj still has the same sources who helped him beat the Worldwide Leader to nearly every scoop when he was at Yahoo. ESPN is not in as bad of shape as people seem to think. They aren't paying Woj to get them ratings. Nobody cared about Woj's analysis at Yahoo. ESPN is paying him because he's the best reporter in the business. Woj's reputation is pretty much bullet proof at this point. He could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and he wouldn't lose followers.

A lot of people have already sealed the Bucks fate without giving them a chance, I will give the FO a chance at least. Our GM has not done much so far, this chapter hasn't even begun so who knows how it will go. Maybe they pleasantly surprise us with a signature move that takes us to the next level, maybe they ruin everything and Giannis leaves. For right now the team is in a good position to succeed in the future

Woj's comments seem a bit premature, he is going off about something 4 years from now. Yes there is some truth in what he is saying, but I also think he is being far too critical about a team that is set up to succeed for a long time

And this board has been saying the same thing about Giannis leaving if the team sucks 4 years from now, Woj isn't really telling us anything we didn't already know

I won't be done as a fan, but I won't be one of those morons burning his jersey. If we can't even build a team that can get out of the 2nd round with a player like Giannis.....I won't know what to think.
