That was what the last 2 years were for, and we have no playoff success to show for it. Our window is closing on that "Atlantic Division is Weak" argument. The last 2 years may be this team's peak.

Feshuk doing what he always does. Riling people up. Speculating and trying to run each team's best players out of town by holding them to Lebron/Crosby standards.

He's basing all of this off of the TSN radio interview we all heard where Masai said everything is on the table and nothing more. Read into it all you want but if you heard his TSN radio interview then you have better context and all he's done is rehash and interpret that.

Taking a step back doesn't necessarily mean tanking.

Could mean trading or exchanging veteran players for younger ones with higher ceilings while still remaining competitive. Lowry being at the forefront of such an initiative. (Dealing him to Kings for Stauskas and their pick --- probably take back JT's contract --- would be a dream trade).

Casey is not the Coach to tank guys.
He's simply not bad enough, nor good enough to win games on a contending level.
Not sure how I feel about this at all...

sounds familiar... this franchise just never changes, always stuck in no man's land

Worst part is...

I remember at the start of this season after our 25-10 record (or w.e it was),
We all claimed ATL was the definition of a treadmill team.

Time to look in the mirror boys -- We are the greatest Treadmill ever assembled.

Atlantic division is going to remain weak for another 2 years so this Raps chance to go for it.

I heard Feschuk and I don't recall him saying that Masai was tanking. Taking a step back isn't a tank.

If you actually listen to the interview, Feschuk doesn't have any sources. He's interpreting Masai's interview with TSN Drive last week.

Yep, taking a step back is really just lowering the speed setting on the Treadmill, not a rebuild.

Feschuk: Masai seriously considering tanking next season, trading Lowry

Kyle's pride is keeping him from disclosing just how seriously his hand and back impacted him. He's not one to use injuries as excuses and it's turning everybody against him.

People are underestimating the relationship Lowry has with Demar and this team though. Demar is going to be a bridge between a lot of this BS and speculation and the healing that will need to happen afterward.

I'm not spending a dime on tickets or anything until the dust settles after the all-star break this year. I have friends who spent good change on season tickets this past season and next season (When Raptors were tops in Eastern Conference). This team has trainwreck written all over it.

If were tanking then Dwane Casey staying makes sense. And if were tanking wouldn't Dwane Casey quit to save his reputation so he can get a coaching position somewhere else. I'm grasping for straws here but I'm fully behind Masai at this point. Masai has a master plan but he is waiting until after the All-Star game to execute as they want to bring in as much revenue as possible.
Dwane Casey: "K guys were down 2 with 5 seconds left, what do we do?" "Run a backdoor cut for the easy two points?" "Your funny guys, that's ten laps, we Pound the Rock".

Definitely would be stupid at this point. You tank when you lose a stud / superstars. Not coming off the heel of the best season we've ever had. Would much rather treadmill to the playoffs every year and try to get better thru strategic trades and signings rather than crap out n hope for draft luck

It's Dave Frigging Feschuk

Everyone relax before jumping on board the tank-wagon. It's not happening

I'm not so certain the East will be as bad next season:

The Pacers will be better with Paul George back.
Miami should be healthy next year with Wade, Bosh, Dragic, and Whiteside.
The Celtics had a great run to end the season once they acquired Isaiah Thomas.
New York has a ton of cap space and a top pick in the draft.
Orlando was showing signs of being decent and have another top pick in the draft.
Philadelphia has Embiid and a top pick in the draft plus a ton of cap space.
Cleveland will have an entire season with their mid-season additions.
Milwaukee is young and just starting to figure it all out.

And I don't see any of the "good" teams in our Conference being worse next season either. Except us, we are losing Amir Johnson (starting PF) and possibly Lou Williams (6th man of the year).

Once Masai decided to bring back Casey, you don't need anyone to confirm that Lowry's gone.

Good point but who's going to take him? How many teams has he played on so far?

Houston, Toronto, Memphis. All three are organizations that are accepting of eccentric attitudes. Where can he go - Dallas? Randy will make him cry. Lakers? Same situation with Rondo - who's going to want him?

Trade him to Houston. Rockets were interested in him last summer and they never did upgrade the pg spot. I'll take back Terrence Jones and Clint Capela.

There is no one step back here. If Lowry is to be traded they have to trade DD too. taking on 2-3 lottery picks which may or may not pan out next year will require 3-4 year of development DD will be what 29 -30 years old? His whole game is built on speed and athleticism I wonder how much of that will be left at 30 years old.

If this is true (and it is not my preference) then only JV will stay as he is young enough to develop with a number of lottery picks next season. The sad part though is I really no longer believe he can be what we were lead to believe. Looking at these play offs dominant big men are a must. JV is a good player but he has physical limitation and Iwill start with just running the floor which he can not do well at al.

Anyways, there is no one step back here, if MU goes down that road it does not make sense to hold on to a strong bench and core players that will be much older by the time these new picks develop and contribute at a high level.

How has it taken us 10 years to finally start tanking. Who are we tanking for? LeBron jr?
