Look at the Cavs/Wolves(losing effort), Knicks/Kings(impressive and contending like).... these guys, whom I just happened to watch more of vs others, the level of effort and play is on another planet compared to us.
That's where I can't accept it... lose in a battle, fine we tried... lose like this? again! there is something apparently wrong that extends beyond the players on the court. The staff and GM need to be addressed. Their body of work is horse sh*t after the KD/Ky Free Agency...
IIRC the team played surprisingly well in the games KD and/or KI were out, with plenty of hustle and Brooklyn Grit (tm). Which is why I had decent hopes for the Nets with the talent infusion at the deadline. I thought for sure we'd be playing better than this by the postseason, given the reps.
In retrospect, I think I would have been okay using CamT as lead guard, and taking those two #1's for DFS.
Btw, I get people frustratedly / sarcastically saying "so you're satisfied with more of the same then, huh?" but you know very well that's ignoring reality. The reality is that Marks' hands were tied in many ways during the KD/KI disaster, and that period was pretty much the furthest thing from the normal rebuild arc we were on track for before those jokers signed on.
The fact is, Marks' biggest skills are probably finding talent and generating draft picks, and he had very little opportunity to use those skills during 3-4 years of ring-chasing.
You can't tie a conjurer's hands for 3-4 years, then complain that he didn't perform any good tricks during that time. It makes no sense.
Had JV not been given an unprovocative extension after a less than ideal results leading into the all star break, fans and myself included knew that the coaching corner isn't permananet and can be remedy when the right person becomes available. Then BAM, extenstion, followed by horrible game after game... all the way through... now we're sitting here like, wtf is there to look forward to?
Vaugh did not help himself either IMO. The in/out/forsaken time of Cam Thomas, yea he has flaws but gotta work through them and I never dipped into that hype of his either but come on, every game we are starving for pts and he doesn't get his shot? But the Harris and Curry over dependence really served the team for the best right coach?
SUmner? thought we had something nice from him... he went from energy and hustle with speed to bench warmer... no reason publicly known to me or the fanbase.
Yuta? tall stretch big who was once in the top of the league for 3 pt shooting? While flawed but why not developed? He looked good before with people knowing what to do but after recovering from injury, never had a chance.
Sharpe? lack of bigs playing and supporting Claxton. We turned Royce into an undersized C and that really helped us out didn't it?
Rotation became, Din, Bridges, CAMJ, DFS, Clax and Royce.... nothing more nothing else... no further expansion to play anyone...
it's a joke to me.
