Always That one person. LOL How can he even argue Calderon over quinn. Quinn was unstoppable in Lord of the rings.

Quinn > Calderon
Quinn was the Capt of ND. Also was in the 3 point contest for ncaa. What has Calderon done???

lead spain to win the world championship in 2006

OK, let's open with the Toronto fan laughing at the Toronto fan... Don't take this personally, Kobe D.

Kobe D wrote:I'm actually dead serious. Calderon could bring in the run & gun system and really jump start your offense. With Marion and Wade on the wings, your offense would be deadly if Calderon was quarterbacking the point for you guys. He's a beast.

This is totally wrong. Well, the first part, anyway; Miami's offense WOULD be deadly with a real point guard who wasn't among the worst decision-makers I've ever season and who could hit a jumper with reasonable frequency. Here, I'm understating because Calderon's a nasty shooter.

I don't mean to offend Miami fans who like Jason Williams but I've hated him since he was drafted, even after Hubie Brown "fixed" him.

This would be especially true if the Heat got Beasley, who'd probably love him.

As everyone here knows, it seems stunningly unlikely that it'll happen.

First thing, Riles isn't dumb enough to throw a max contract at Calderon; he's not worth it. I love him as a player and hope he retires a Raptor, but right now, he's not a max player. I'd still pay him $9-11M, sure, but a full-out max deal? Calderon will have been in the league three years, so he'll be eligible for up to 25% of the cap (IIRC), which would be about $14M if it jumps to $58M. Riley would have to be nuts to give that much money to Calderon, or otherwise sure that he would be incapable of getting another free agent and working under the assumption that the owner isn't worried about the luxury tax if he signs that deal and then uses exceptions to add other players and also drafts high in the lottery for a few mil and re-signs Wright, etc.

A few million here and there makes a difference.

I think Riles WILL try to get him with a similar contract to the one he offered Mo Williams in a S&T. Since we ALL know it is not going to work, he will try to show Jose some of the latin booty here in SoBe. Since that is not going to work either because he is a RFA, Riley will resign Quinn and bring back Smush Parker in a new contract designed for him to get paid cash and avoid parking incidents. Championship!

Well, EVERYone knows that Quinn > Nash, so that would be the wisest of moves anyhow.

There are really only two good things to have come from Canada:

Rush

Inferiority Complex

Pat is saving Quinn from overuseage this season because if he plays too much, we would have the best record in the Eastern Division. My imaginary sources also tell me that the Heat have reached an agreement with Kimbo Slice on a two year contract for next season, to provide an inside presence.

Hey now... Russell Peters is Canadian, hockey doesn't suck, Superman was invented by a Canadian, so was basketball... Kim Catrall, Tommy Chong, John Candy, Michael J Fox, Phil Hartman, Nickelback is Canadian (and used to be good), The Tragically Hip, the Arrogant Worms, Our Lady Peace... I think Steppenwolf originated in Toronto in the 60s.

James LaBrie from Dream Theater was born in Ontario.

More than two good things come from Canada, thank you very much.

This is to say nothing of the Canadarm, which we've been milking for decades. :D

Haha, you know I thought the Smush signing was bad, just bad, but it ended up being horrific, and much worse than I thought. It's pretty sad, at least you can say you have a player on your team who's nickname is Smush.

Alright now, you shouldn't try and talk up Canada AND use Nickelback in the same post. Was Shania Twain canadian? She was hot even if her music wasn't.

Yes, she is Canadian. And Nickelback was good back in the day. Not like Rush-level, but a solid popular band that had decent sound.

*shrugs*

They're pop rock; if you don't like them, you don't like them but the level of success they've enjoyed (even prior to their recent shift to anti-testicular power ballad-based rock) makes them clearly worthy of mention here.

I was never a huge fan but some of their earlier stuff was definitely good enough for a listen. I'm more a Dream Theater/Rush guy and so consequently, Canada works just fine for me, musically speaking. :D Of course, of DT, only the singer is Canadian but that's OK.
