I did say that because there is a big big chance one of nets or knicks (OR BOTH) end the summer with 40 millions more to complete the team and no more superstars on the market.
i dont think brand is 100% done, but his last year was pretty bad yes.

I would love it if that happened but I don't see it happening. The Knicks have Stoudemire now and Brand doens't fit D'Antoni's style (even if Brand were his old 20/10 self). The Nets have a young team and I'm sure they'd rather throw a ton of money at Boozer or Lee and if they don't sign, they would probably just give a ton of minutes to Favors instead of carrying Brand's deal for three years.

I suspect Elton Brand will be on the Sixers for at least 24 more months.

I just don't understand the pull of Kaman. Help me understand it. Because I keep seeing trades like above, where we take a bunch of young players with some big holes in their games, and trade them all away for Kaman which makes no sense to me. Besides the win now aspect, I just don't see Kaman as helping much to make you win now.

I see an average at best defender, who shot the ball inefficiently at an obscene rate. Don't just tell me "He's an All star" cause frankly, the history of the NBA All star game is littered with dubious selections based on shallow stats. And he was an injured replacement to boot. So convince me, whats great about Kaman?

The fact that while shooting 6.5 shots more than his opposition he puts up 5.7 more points? Thats less than .88 points per shot, which is just awful. The fact that he fouls more, blocks less, and puts up 2 more turnovers per 48 than his opposition? Again, that doesn't strike me as good. His Per is less than his opposition puts up.

Have fun, look at his stats honestly, and tell me what I'm missing. And yes, I have seen him play occasionally too, but feel free to tell me what doesn't translate into any statistic that I can find but points per game alone.

His usage rate was 27.1% last season. Dwight was 23.9%. Kaman had the highest usage rate out of every center in the league last season (assuming they played significant minutes). He took a ton of shots, and committed a ton of turnovers. His win share per 48 is 27th out of the 27 centers in the league that played 1000 minutes last season. Worse than Hawes, who is 25th of 27.

I could go on and note that even in something like PER he trailed Dalembert last season. Or that looking at something like rebounding he is 24th of the 27 on the offensive glass, and still falls 16th in overall rebounding rate.
To me, Kaman seems pretty clearly what he is: 27th of 27 in Offensive Rating, 24th of 27 in defensive rating (with 1 the best), and 1 out of 27 in field goal attempts. I guess that makes you an All star, but I don't see it.

What says you. The first might make it too much but we get a better C than we have and a three point shooter.

Another problem would be that we added a player instead of dropping a player.

However, I think that trade would add nice depth to the big man position and would get an up and coming player in the league starting minutes. It also takes away a ball dominant player and adds someone who can move without the ball and be effective.

You can't be serious with that trade. If anything, it should be Iggy for Morrow, Biedrins, and their 2011 1st round pick top 5 protected.

Anybody thinks we could go for Gortat? Orlando wants to get rid of him, so ... maybe we can bring him in? We need a C, Gortat is a prospective player, showed already some signs of being really good in defence/rebounding (and thats what we need), can block - what you want more? Give him more minutes that he had in Orlando and his gonna be something.

I am wondering if Lee goes to Minnesota, does that mean Jefferson would be dealt? I would not offer very much for Jefferson, especially at his salary.

I don't think he and Brand can play together, but I'm not sure you pass up a talent like Jefferson if you can get him for .10 on the dollar.

I know how unpopular Al is on this board, but for a combo of either Green/Nocioni or Kapono/Smith, can you pass him up?

About Big Al - for Kapono/Green/Nocioni/Smith (whatever combination) - ANY MINUTE, son.

Biedrinis, Morrow, pick for Iggy? Not a chance. Morrow is a great shooter, but we dont need another SG which cant play defense for sh##. Biedrinis became lazy and unproductive, thats why Warriors want to get rid of him.

I dont see any reason why Orlando would say no. Im sure they would like to add a sharpshooter like Jason, Gortat is overpaid for only 14 mpg. As for us? He's not a good offensive player, but in our situation is actually fine, we have other scoring options - defence is our focus, additionally he's a hardworker, gives hustle like hell - starter no prob. He would definitly fill the gap that Dalembert left.

He wants to start and he definitely could start here unless Hawes has really improved.

But they probally could find better deals for him.
