I don't think that we'll be inside the top 10 pick wise especially as spring time comes and teams start tanking it. Nets will be playing at full steam and with hopefully Russell and Okafor in the mix.
You have far more faith in this team than I do. I'm thinking it's almost a lock top 10 pick, and even more so if we were to trade some talent in order to get the pick back.
Rondae is trending towards all star level with his production and upside. that would be a huge mistake to trade him for our own pick. we have 11 wins now and we have 4 months left. we'll be fine imo.
Let me ask this. If somehow Klay Thompson became available for trade, would anyone here object to Marks going after him?
At the expense of RHJ, or LeVert?
I'm biased, because LeVert is my favorite player on the team and to me still has the equally highest upside of anyone currently on this roster so I say no to him.
And to me, RHJ is a guy I want to pair with Klay.
I do think Klay is likely to be shopped now or this summer though and I do think he's exactly the type of player Marks is waiting to pounce on.
The problem is, GSW is good at drafting, good at developing, good at signing players and I'd imagine good in trade. I think they would want one main young piece back, whose got a couple extra years of rookie scale, or a high draft pick, not a smorgasborg, so one of those 2 would have to be involved and not just multiple late and future picks, because at this deadline I still think other teams offer up a high pick or a very interesting player.
But if somehow you can land him for something like Carroll, Toronto 1st, future 1st and maybe even my main man Dinwiddie, you have to jump on it.
Klay is awesome and all. Great shooter. Really good defender. Doesn't need to dominate the ball. Very good in transition. Smart player. But what does he look like not on GSW? He doesn't get to the line. Somewhat suspect handles. Not really an initiator or creator. Has the luxury of being able to dig in on D because he doesn't have to expend endless energy on O. Now I honestly don't think his role changes on a ton on a team like this. But does he get us that close to a title if you have to give up RHJ or LeVert, or Allen, or 2 of the 3 to get him? Idk. I don't think so.
