Think about in five years at the end of his contract, is he going to get 11 million dollars when he becomes a free agent again at the age of 32? That's why you take the 11 million now then get the near max 5 year deal next season.
No smart GM would give him Ellis a 5 year deal let alone a max deal
Sorry, I meant four year deal I forgot the new CBA shaved a year off contracts with new teams. But yea four year deal starting in the ballpark of 13 million isn't out of the realm of possibility. Considering there are alot of stupid GM's out there.
On a side note, it's kind funny how we were all clamoring for him this time last year as a possible franchise savior.
