Yeah on Monday night. He pitched a perfect inning and struck out the side. Threw 13 pitches, 10 for strikes. He'll likely make another 2 or maybe 3 appearances before being called up here some time next week.

He's pitching out of the Trenton bullpen tomorrow.

What? Only 2 strikeouts? Totally not worth it. Trade him for anything. -Jitpal

I don't know what their exact plan is, but I'd imagine they would have him pitch back to back nights and then the final test would be pitching for more than an inning of relief. They can have that done by this weekend, then on the next bus to the Bronx!

good article...did you see the links that compared his mechanics from 06 to 07 and the drop in velocity. It was pretty interesting stuff. As well as comparing his mechanics to Jaret Wright. He makes a good case that his mechanics don't resemble clemens. That kind of scared me.

The drop in velocity isn't a cause for concern for me. Hughes wasn't throwing 95 mph until VERY late in the season last year, when he struck out 13 in the AA postseason. Nardi Contreras called his fastball that night a plus-plus fastball and he even hit 96 mph. But that was only because it was late in the season and he had incredible arm strength at that point. The video from '07 is pretty early in the season, which is when Hughes sits 91-93 (as he did in the early part of '06). Plus the radar guns are always different. It's an inexact science, but nothing that would concern me. Hughes' mechanics are very, very clean and compact.

I heard Joba was in NY this week filling out papers for his passport.

Ian Kennedy - 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 BB, 2 ER, 4 Ks

He struggled early on but settled down nicely, overall a solid outing. That change is dominant.

Austin Jackson: 2 for 4 with a home run...still hitting .366 in Tampa and picked up his 8th homer and 22nd RBI in just 41 games at that level

Those two are ridiculous. I can't wait to watch them everyday in Trenton next year.

Also, Kennedy's ERA on the entire season between A, AA, and AAA is 1.75. He has allowed 78 hits in 128.2 innings, walked 44, and struck out 148. All while being a ground ball pitcher (2/1 GB/FB ratio). FILTHY.
