To be fair. This is probably the most honest take here.
Looking at the box score and reading through the thread from last night.
I like what I see from Black overall. Less so from Howard but i'm happy that he had a game to showcase his shooting. Puts me a tad more at ease.
It is clear to me that the level of talent our team assemble for summer league was not good, not good at all. I honestly would not have been mad if we straight up pulled them from the Summer League after game 1 as I do not see how this league benefited them with their skill set.
im actually the reverse. to me, Jett was chosen to play SG/SF and to make 3's. he has shown he can make 3's. I'm not a believer yet in this dynamic scoring ability from him, but i dont think they ask that of him, especially not right away.
Black, we cannot exist in today's NBA with a bad shooting PG. his shot HAS to improve and improve fast.
Why does it have to improve fast? I just want him to improve correctly if it takes 2-3 years then I am good. He is 19 years old. I think everyone is down on Black because his game was not built for summer league it’s not a sexy create your own shot type of game. I really think of him as a support guy like in a video game. It’s not sexy and people never want to play it but it is necessary. Having him reading and hitting Franz on cuts, WCJ on rolls, and support Paolo is extremely intriguing. Very excited to see him play with Anthony. An Anthony Harris Black Ingles Goga backup unit is intriguing as shot to me surrounding him with shooting.
