https://skepticalsports.com/the-case-for-dennis-rodman-guide/This is a great historical analysis of Dennis Rodman's overall and rebounding impact, arguing among other things that Rodman is not only the greatest rebounder in history, but dominates rebounding to a greater extent than any other player dominates any other statistical category. For instance, he argues that Rodman was a better rebounder than Jordan was a scorer. Rodman still has 6 of the top 10 total rebounding percentage seasons in the history of the league, and has by far the best career offensive rebounding percentage in the history of the league.
You couldn't not guard Dennis Rodman. You had to keep a body on him or he would just get extra possessions for his team. He had gravity just like great shooters have gravity. Add in his defense -- 2x DPOY, 8x All-Defensive (7x 1st team/1x 2nd team) -- and it is silly to argue he would be unplayable in today's game. He would be great in any era.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
