What a pathetic post.

Fitting for a thread about a pathetic player.

Jesus, could you be any more pathetic?

Think you should do this thread a favour and just stop posting here.

You're right, I have not posted in the spirit of the thread.

He'll average 8/2/2 on 40% shooting.

I think he’ll be a lot better this year. Probably won’t give the production you’d hope from a $30 mill player but I think he’ll be a positive contributor for the Cs. His injury being as serious as it was, you’ve got to give guys a year before making a definitive call on what level they’re at.

He may or may not now be Nic Batum...

But I still feel his stats will fall between 15-4-4 and 19-6-6 on solid shooting splits if not great

I'm not optimistic that he'll return to his pre-injury form but could see 16/5/3 from him. Also the fact that the free agency class (besides Anthony Davis who apparently hates Boston) sucks means that his high salary in 20-21 [Hayward's last year under contract] shouldn't hurt that much.

Interested to see how this unfolds and will be rooting for the boys in green from afar after Kemba earned my respect down here in Charlotte.

I could actually see him bouncing back and having a near all star caliber season. Last year was just a weird season for the Celtics with the whole Kyrie Irving situation coupled with him coming back from a major injury.

Gordon Howard will be a decent 3rd option on good efficiency. But he's a very passive player which prevents him from being worth that contract. Theres no alpha in him. He was passive in Utah until we literally handed him the keys to the offense.

I feel bad for Hayward. Seems like a decent guy. Was a very nice player for Utah. Maybe made a bad choice leaving Utah for Boston, just to play with his old coach rather than the franchise that raised him from a lanky project to an all-star. Overall, the injury thing was really unfortunate and you don't like to see that happen to any player.

What puzzled me from the beginning was Boston's idea of Hayward's fit on the squad. They'd just drafted Brown and Tatum in back to back seasons with #3 picks. These guys are and were both promising players and both small forwards (sorry, Brown is not a shooting guard, particularly in this small ball style of NBA). So why go give Hayward a massive contract to take their minutes?

If Ainge had just kept building in the draft and signed quality players that fit with the age and development of this core, then they'd be in a pretty good spot now. Instead he stacked the team with shoot first point guards and small forwards and it turned into a disaster.

Imagine being mediocre already and then replacing Kyrie & Horford with elite losers in Walker & Kanter  . I'd be salty too.

Big talk from a team that has FVV as one of their main weapons now. I’ll take Kemba and the Jays and Gordon all day long over your team. I guess we’ll see though won’t we. I’m guessing after the season is over I won’t hear from you about this until the next off season.

I heard the same nonsense from Celtics fans last year.

60+ win team, lock to make finals, Warriors East

Overrated frauds every year, but last year they only won 49 games and got infinitely worse

If Hayward doesn't come off the bench again, Stevens is making the same mistake again. Tatum/Brown are better. Hayward isn't a 4 ( or too many spots he's not good at defending the 4). Especially with the hole at centre. And don't care how positive anyone wants to try and be about that. 14/6 and pretty average efficiency I would expect.

There are a lot of statistics we can parse to make an argument one way or the other. But it's interesting in this case how many STILL favor "really terrible Hayward year coming off big injury."

Offensively, Hayward and Brown had some similarities, from mpg to fg% and 3fg%... only Hayward is a much better passer and free throw shooter.

Interestingly, more advanced stats favor Hayward even more. He had a better VORP than either young guy. He had a higher PER. He was the only one of the three who was a plus player with OBPM and DBPM. More WinShares/48.

Now there are some caveats to that:

1. Tatum was 20. Brown was 22. It's expected for both to improve. Maybe even a lot.
2. Hayward very clearly was less aggressive than in the past. He was passive. And he seemed to lack much explosiveness.
3. Did he simply pad his stats against the lowly Timberwolves? Consider his two games vs. the Wolves:

32.5 ppg
5.0 reb
6.5 ast
22 - 34 fg
8 - 12 3fg

Too bad the Wolves are in the other conference.

Bottom line: Even with Hayward at his "worst"... and indecisive and passive... he was a plus two-way player who was pretty efficient. Considering he's still in his 20s... I don't know why anybody would assume he wouldn't improve this season if healthy.

lol Classic Celtics fan comeback. Bring up 17 banners ya'll won against Firefighters and Plumbers back in the day.

Celtics and Raptors have the same amount of Titles the last 20 years lmao. Your history against a team that was born in 1995 really doesnt fit the narrative bud
