This seems to indicate that any all star guard could do this against the Clippers' defense. Does this make Luka's performance against them less impressive? Especially considering he blew a 2-0 lead needing to win 2 more games to win the series but losing all 3 games at home. Did Luka become way overrated after his 1st round performance?
No relation to Luka. However, Luka is currently a James Harden. Does not play defense at all, dominates the ball way too much, and plays too much hero ball that alienates the rest of the team. I mean talk about having Porzingis on your team and minimizing him to barely a bench player. Chris boucher gets more touches and therefore more impact then Porzingis.
Luka needs to be course corrected big-time, or his career is gonna follow the standard ball hogging hero-ball careers of iverson, lillard, harden, celtics-kyrie etc. He is very young though. I blame Rick Carlisle more than Luka at this point.
How do you define Mitchell then? 30 shots, 4 assists on a stacked team? We've seen in the past he had the same problems when he openly admited that he shoots way too much. I mean if you blame Luka for being a ballhog while also being one of the best in the league in every assists/passes made categories, it just doesn't make any sense.
It's also funny you say Luka doesn't play any defense, yet he had teams best defensive rating, teams highest steals and was 3rd in blocks.
But like you said, it's also coaches job to prepare a better offensive scheme. It's just the fact that KP couldn't go 1v1 vs Reggie Jackson kinda also limits what you can do with your other "star" player. Without Luka, Mavs had 93 ORTG and with him over 120 ORTG, so yeah...
