If the Bogdan deal never got leaked and we had no idea it might potentially happen or not happen how do we feel about this trade? I remember being super excited about it the night of

I'm super excited to pair Jrue with Giannis, Khris, and Brook. That's a massive upgrade to last season. If you look at it in a vacuum....Jrue Holiday is a massive upgrade to Eric Bledsoe. The rest of our starting unit in place...this is a massive W. Not the Bucks fault that Wes decided to pursue a bigger deal, he earned that.

That being said, the entire future was mortgaged to make this move a reality....so I hope they had assurances....otherwise this trade will go down in Bucks lore the same way the Nets trade for Paul Pierce and KG is viewed in retrospect.

I'm bored.

Bledsoe had 0 value or negative value in the trade? Cost us a 1st?

Hill salary filler.

Jrue 2 firsts and 2 pick swaps.

Breaking it down like this makes it better for me. But what do I know?

The only reason for Jrue not to get the max is if he doesn't like money.

Can you imagine the team trying to sell him walking away after next year given what they gave up for him?

It’s like Tunsil setting the LT market after Houston Texans gave up multiple 1st and 2nd round picks for him. He has ALL the leverage he will get the max no doubt.

For not having a super team our luxury tax bill will be insane if Giannis signs supermax and Holiday signs max extension.

This is where I'm at too. Giannis will be a Buck for 6 more years minimum. The core is championship caliber. The spare parts are just that. There will be enough ring chasers and good players betting on themselves to fill in the gaps. Enjoy the ride.

Wouldn't be surprised if the NBA fine us a pick going out.

The reason I hadn't freaked out about the Jrue deal is because I believed it wasn't done in a vaccuum. Without Bogdan, what can I say? This sucks. - Not giving up hope and clining to the fact that despite this blunder (that now appears to be entirely Bogdan's agents' doing), the Bucks had a pretty solid plan and executed it. There's still the trade deadline to look forward to.

Jrue is going to be a much better fit with this team than Bledsoe. I don't have a problem with this move - even as I agree it was a steep price to pay - as I think it makes us better irrespective of what happened with Bogdan.

Jrue will be better than Bled and the Bogi thing is bad purely because of the optics. If it was just "supposed interest" it wouldn't be as bad but too have it be confirmed with details then backtracked and then investigated just looks so bad for the franchise. Fortunately though, Giannis probably doesn't care about optics that much and seems focused on family and vacation right now.

It is a steep price for Jrue but considering how Ainge was bidding similar packages you can assume other teams were as well. In a vacuum it looks bad but big picture we kept the Celtics and many other East teams from getting arguably the best player on the market this off season short of Harden which only helps our chances considering Bled is a negative come playoff time and Hill, while impactful, has shown a tendency to choke and doesn't have the two way impact Jrue does. Ultimately if Giannis signs the thing none of this really matters

The thing with this trade isn't whether it makes us better. It does. Its that whether its good or epically bad entirely depends on the actions of another player.

If the Bucks FO knows Giannis is re-signing this trade isn't bad.

If they made this trade simply on the hope that it would get Giannis to re-sign every last one of them should be fired

That Celtics package is not remotely similar. Bledsoe and Hill were both in the top 25 for RPM among pg's. Hayward was good too, but has a scary injury history and was making much more (presumably he doesn't want to stay in Boston so he didn't opt out until he realized they weren't going to be able to work out a trade).

More importantly, 3 picks in this draft are not nearly as good as #24, 2 unprotected future picks, and 2 unprotected pick swaps years from now. Considering all the things that could go wrong and cause at least a few of those picks to be really good ones, that's literally at least twice as enticing as what the Celtics offered, even though it is technically possible that the Bucks can keep their window open for 7 years despite Khris, Jrue, and Brook all being at least 29 and the Bucks having absolutely no young talent waiting in the wings besides maybe DDV.

I'm not sure what you mean? I'm saying precisely the opposite - for the Pelicans, gambling on the Bucks' picks is far superior to the Celtics' offer precisely because it will be very hard for the Bucks to keep their window of contention open given the ages of literally every legitimate NBA rotation player currently on the team other than Giannis and DDV.
