Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXXI
Not a trade idea, but how about taking a flier on Lance Stephenson? He's recovering from a groin injury but should be ready about when Mahinmi is ready. If he can replicate his play with the Pacers he will be a welcome addition as a guard who can handle the rock and score off the bench. How was his relationship with Mahinmi, anyway? Anyone have any inside scoop? If it was positive perhaps he takes a chance on reuniting with a buddy and gives it his all.
If it doesnt work out, so what? We literally have nothing to lose but Ted's money (again, so what) and whoever we waive to bring him in (I vote Ochefu since he won't ever see court time).

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Seems like there could be a Otto Porter hype-train leaving the station, with advanced stat nerds in NBA front offices creaming themselves over him, should we at least be fielding offers for him? I read some Minnesota Fans were willing to trade Wiggins for him, I don't know if I would make that deal.

No thanks, not my cup of tea. We need to try to become a good team, which means not buying old guys for lots of $$.
This is admittedly a good point.

He'd have to be really bad to be bad value at 12 million in this big money era. That's a fantastic contract, and right now he's vastly outplaying it.
I think Gortat is good. I don't want to move him unless we acquire someone like Cousins that disrupts the balance on the roster.

Gortat is not the problem for our perimeter defense woes, but no-one is really scared to go into the paint with Gortat. Also, I think we're underestimating the need for a big man Wall can throw alley-oops to. He's 32 with a fantastic contract, which should be an even bigger incentive to move him.

the problem is that the center position became really good in the last few seasons--so almost everyone has one. I don't see many places he'd go to and be a starter right away. The Warriors would be fantastic with him--but you'd get Looney and a really late 1st at best, which would hurt us a lot.

By the time Gortat's contract finishes, Wall will be 30 years old. I just can't accept the idea that the best center Wall ever played with was Marcin Gortat, and Javale McGee was the the only above the rim center he ever got.

Are we really implying that a 2nd round pick is the missing piece to getting that deal done?

I like Dwight but I'm not giving up a first to make that deal happen at this point, and I doubt many other teams would include one for him.

Im not against trading Otto I just dont get the nerlens noel hype, he'd be an upgrade athletically and defensively but hes had alot of serious injuries/we'd have to pay him big money cause of RFA/and he sucks at hitting FTs.
I just think if we give up on otto it should be for someone better but noel does seem like the most realistic trade

Just a hunch, but I think a Porter/Wall/Cousins trio meshes a bit better. Porter seems happy to not compete for an alpha spot, not so much Beal.
Beal immediately assumes the alpha role in Sacramento.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXXI
I really think an unprotected first in a draft of this caliber should be enough for a guy like Cousins. I doubt the Celtics would include any players with the Brooklyn pick if something got done. We should be able to just include a pick and filler for Cousins.

Yup - just find a 3rd team to include that can use Gortat (Boston?), because he is not a fit for Sac.

The value of picks is being overstated. We'd be LUCKY to get Cousins for our 2017 + 2018 + 2019 1st round picks. Brooklyn's pick has more value since that team will stay bad.

Well, that's BS, but those who worship Cousins will admit of no evidence to the contrary.
If he does get traded, you will be shocked that he doesn't bring anything like that kind of return.

He's not getting 3 first round picks.
A first, and a decent player in return, sure.
