Some people have called him soft, but in my limited exposure to him, I haven't really seen that.

And Marcin has his father just at the heart:

CCJ, starting Ves last night wouldn't have been worse than starting Booker. Booker on Greg Monroe was an utter mismatch. Didn't have anywhere near the length to match up.

Gortat is going to start sooner rather than later, that much is clear. He's good, had something like 9 and 9 in 17 minutes last night. He's better than Booker in every way and is the most aggressive and physical rebounder on the team by far.

I like Nene as the starter at PF because of the offense. But I wouldn't mind experimenting with a Ves/Gortat front court. After last night's first half debacle, we should experiment.

I really liked how he fit in the game with Philly. I would still prefer him to make more shots closer to the basket. Great game from him hope that will become his normal level of play.

Good player. A little slow on rotations, but otherwise very solid. I hope we resign him.

I liked what I saw tonight. The volleyball passes & controlled tips were impressive. He looked longer than usual tonight. I think he will help with the spacing & at some point Nene will be able to feast on power forwards bc of him, though that didn't work out well tonight.

Starting lineup: Wall-Beal-Ariza-Nene-Gortat = 2-0
Bench is another story...

He's a good player. Good trade by Ernie. Hopefully we can keep him without paying too much though considering how even bad Cs can get paid.....
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I think it's still a terrible trade and I've seen nothing to prove anything different. Mortgaging the future for journeyman rent-a-center isn't my idea of a good trade. And good luck on EG not paying him too much. When does that ever happen?

Is there anyone EG WON'T overpay to keep?

Gortat does look a bit clumsy at times. I will need to see more of him but i am starting to think he might not be as good as i expected him to be.

Right now? i don't think so.

But if EG resigns him this summer? Yes he will be overpaid. EG overpays routinely when he resigns someone.

Let's say you're GM. How much will you offer next summer to keep Gortat in the roster? 10-14 mln per year?

The important decision is whether or not to try to resign him. That is an open question for me. I am not convinced that it would be the best strategy. Sometimes it is better to let a guy walk for nothing rather than overpay to keep him. See Detroit and Ben Wallace.

However if EG is still on the job he will surely try to resign him and i bet it takes at least 4 yr 10 mill to resign him. My guess is that he gets $12 million/yr from someone.
