2014 Official Draft Day "Game" Thread

Welcome to Draft Day 2014

Yes ladies and gentleman- all problems with the franchise will be immediately solved in a glorious chain of events today. This year we've chanted "Be Sorry for Jabari!" "Bleed for Embiid" and many other rhyme-ee things that help muffle the sound of a large Tank driving through our team. Our Tank Commanders failed us, though. The bounce of the balls and a parting gift from Mike D and Swaggy P dashed our hopes for top 3 on the rocks of basketball reasons and improbable #1's to Cleveland. :banghead:

We've mocked around the clock, scrutinized arm length, sneaker stench, and agent back-room conspiracy theories.

We know the most likely suspects:

We don't know who's going where in an unpredictable draft yet, but we will very soon.

Pick the good one, Mitch!

I see the Lakers picking 2-7 on the back of Mitch's wheeling and dealing. Book it.

My dream scenario right now is one of Payton or Stauskas and another first round pick.

I don't know if the Magic are going to take Exum with the Fournier trade. Fournier is very young.

Things I pray do NOT happen:

- Embiid slips to #7, but we pass
- Randle and Gordon are available and we choose Randle
- Drafting Vonleh
- Drafting Smart
- If Gordon, Exum, and Embiid are all gone and we don't trade down to collect more picks

TyCobb want to do a sig bet? I say Mitch takes Smart over Gordon if both are available.

If I lose, will I have to say Marcus Smart is not the next Crittenton?

If you lose, you have to wear a Aaron Gordon = Michael Kidd Gilchrist sig. If I lose, your choice. Just don't make me wear something like "I am One Love's source".

Alright, sounds good.

We do need a PG but we really need everything.
We have needs at every position.
My gut feel is that Smart is a risky choice, specially at 7.
I'd rather get a stud athelete like Gordon, who may develop into a Blake Griffin type player, and then go get a PG in free agency with our cap room.

Going to be keeping an eye on who the bulls pic, might end up trading for them.

i dont take gordon because athleticism will only lasts for so long. The lakers have neeed a PG for so long so now is the chance to draft marcus smart if he's still there. my second choice would be julius randle because he's a safe pick...i hope they dont draft vonleh, stauskus, mcdermott

Not following this Doc, care to expand? I thought we'd be trading for the opportunity to use those picks by taking on Boozer? Why would we still do that trade after Chicago already picked?

As far as the poll question, I think everyone is going to be so focused on Embiid, that they're going to forget about Exuum and we'll end up picking him. I don't think Boston passes on Embiid, but they might.

Way I see it is the lakers aren't ready to give up on ther FA aspirations so there won't be a deal in place but later on when the lakers strike out they might work something out and it might depend on how much they like these players. Heck there might already ve something in the works and the bulls are picking for another team.

There might be a handshake deal where Chicago tries to keep its options open. Like, we'll draft this guy who you like, but if we get a better offer for Boozer, we're shipping him off to somewhere else.

Most Likely Scenario

Is a choice between Randle a NBA ready player who can board but has a short wing span
and an bit under sized for PF and

Aaron Gordon A good athlete who is suited for the small forward who needs to work
on his shooting but has a very good defensive game with more upside.

Who is the better pick for the long run?
