For instance, if somehow you have Shaq and Hakeem on your team, you obviously put them on the floor at the same time, but Shaq pretty much has to be center.

Are you asking which NBA centers you would use Hakeem as the man coverage guy out on the floor rather than the drop coverage rim protector because your best lineup starts two career centers? That's a lot, maybe even most of them, as Hakeem has better quickness and foot speed than most of the other candidates. Offensively, less so, but in terms of positions I always tend to think defense first except for the PG arguments.

What do you mean?

If I have Hakeem and Shaq, I try to come up with a game plan that plays to both of their strengths. If it doesn't work, you trade one for a premium perimeter talent.

This is extremely era relative as well.

I'm thinking Robinson, Parish, Ewing. Low post and high post interchangeable.

I think a lot of guys I would strongly consider trading instead of playing them both, like maybe Mourning or Mutumbo. Then there are the cases of Olajuwon/Sampson and Robinson/Duncan where the new guy either does or doesn't naturally take the center slot. Shaq, Kareem, Wilt are guys who would be allowed to live in the low post up to and including at Olajuwon's expense if required; others like Garnett or Dirk are obvious in the other direction. But I'm curious about some fringe cases between trade material and center-lock, for instance Ewing would go a long way in a trade for some help
