2nd Quarter cost us the game, not the 3rd

Post#1 » by Indiana Jones » Sun Jan 20, 2008 1:55 am

We came out playing pretty well, but more importantly we were able to get Philly out synch. However, Mitchell sat our starters far too long into the second quarter, leading Philly's players to find their zone and take the lead before half. The 3rd quarter was just an extension of this momentum swing.

This loss is on Sam for his 2nd quarter blunder. Being tired is no excuse for players making millions to play the game.

i agree that some of the blame should be on sam's strategy, but its not like the players played well either.

That last 2 mins in the 2nd quarter was just dumb. That gave Sixers the run they have now.

game ain't over homie. Give some respect to the Raps for fighting back and getting back into it. 4 games in 5 nights is not an excuse, neither is flying over night after a game. But it does wear on you and right now the raps are down by 8

no, both the second and third cost raps the game..

39 pts in the fourth was great.. too bad they thought defense wasn't necessary in the second and third.

sam's a moron. we were cruising after the first, then he puts in the scrubs to let them back in the game. we should have crushed them in the second then let the scrubs play in the 3rd when the sixers were demoralized. idiot sam.

yeah that third quarter was awful, but it all started in the second. crazy fourth quarter, but you gotta sustain it, or at least avoid such ups and downs in the course of one game.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I look at it. Not the end of the world of course, but I hope it sends a message on how to set the tone.

What this game really made me realize was how much our bench needs Calderon. Ford is really going to make a huge difference once he's back in uniform, in more ways than one.

i agree. and it doesn't matter which pg is playing with which unit, as long as there is no drop off. dixon clearly isn't an energy type point guard that can keep the intensity up. jose is!

The lead was actually stretched out by the reserves in the 2nd quarter. When the starters came in, everything went to hell especially in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Especially in the beginning of the 3rd quarter.

Why can't the Raps start 3rd quarters?
