How abut Marion or RJefferson?

There are some who say the Heat could trade Marion again before the deadline.

Instead of Artest, why not Marion?

- Najera

Unlike Artest, Marion has actually been slotted at PF and is pulling down rebounds like crazy. Plus, although he has ego, we won't have to worry about him blowing up psycho style. He can play defense, probably more versatile than Artest and can hit threes too.

Lineup:
C - Camby
PF - Martin
SF - Marion
SG - Anthony
PG - Iverson

At some point, Marion can also backup Martin or play some SG as well. Kleiza is good, but face it, he's no Marion. And I doubt he'd ever average 20 pts in his career. He's more like a sixth man, Bobby Jackson type of player.

IMO, Jefferson ain't versatile enough to play SG or PF alongside Melo, and he won't upgrade or perimeter defense or three point shooting.

Marion doesn't want to be a 3rd option, shoots 34% from the 3 at the same clip than Artest and I believe he brings worse perimeter defense than Ron, plus he would be more expensive.

I like the Artest option because, due to his craziness maybe we can have him on the cheap, and he's the BEST perimeter defender, our biggest problem, because we are "4 treys from a role player every damn match" away to be a contender.

As much as I'd love either on the Nuggs, I think the trade for Marion is too much to give up and I can't see NJ giving up Jefferson, especially before Kidd or Carter.

Exactly. We need to be giving up 3-4 less threes or long range, and maybe making one or two more per game.

Or, another way to look at it is.....if we can't defend the three, we need to be able to knock them down. Artest is a great trade off because he hits 3s at the same rate any of the other guys on this team can, but he defends so much better.

So I would say no thanks. Though, given the fact that Artest wants 14-15 million a year on his next contract, so he would be about 90% gauranteed to opt out, I would rather have RJ then Artest. But I don't want any of the 3.

Would you be more for going for a perimeter defender with offense, or just a role player that can play point and knock down the three? (Assuming we're talking about keeping most of the current Nuggets roster intact)

I would love to have either, but I would prefer the Artest-type player, preferably one who is not actually Artest. Considering that is impossible, I would love a role playing big PG who could knock down a 3, which is why I would love bringing in Delonte West and having him split time with Carter (and I guess, eventually Atkins...).

I kind of agree with that - the Nuggets just don't need a head case tearing apart any chemistry they have been building. If the man can keep his head and be part of the team, I wouldn't protest. Plus, the Nuggets have the 'BIG' names on the team already. It's that role player like a Rondo that the Nuggets need (of course, a 6'4 Rondo).
