Brandon Inge- Silver slugger?

Post#1 » by The Captain93 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 10:20 pm

Heh. Just as serious as the Maggs Gold Glove topic.

So far our boy Inge has gone an amazing 0-20 at the plate. Will he break out of it tonight? 8 K's is nothing to smile about either.

This slump comes on the heals of his contract renewal. Hate when that happens. :banghead:

Inge is streaky. We all know this. Now he's heating up. My guess is he hits .260 with 25 home runs. Not bad for, perhaps, the weakest hitter in your lineup.

I guess my post gave him a spark.

I would much rather see Inge hit better for average than power down in that 9 spot. It's a real rally killer when you have someone batting .240 at the end of your lineup. As much as I like his homeruns, I feel if he boosted his average up to the .290 range, it would help the club a lot. Cutting down on the strikeouts wouldn't hurt either. He's got to try and stop chasing those low-in the dirt pitches.

I agree but that's just not going to happen. He is what he is...

That being said, I think we would be much better equipped to deal with him at the 9 spot if we didn't have an identical hitter at the 8 spot in Craig Monroe. Both will bat .250 -.265 with 24-30 homeruns and 75-85 rbi's. Both will go through stretches where they carry the team... And both will go through stretches where they are downright awful

I guess that as long as one of them is hot at a time, we are in good shape.
