I love Caleb but there’s more than a little politician in him.

I think he’s very well spoken. Chicago doesn’t have a history of that. Derrick Rose, Justin Fields, etc

Texting punters isn’t very politician. That’s a waste of time if you were looking at things through the lens of a politician. Guy just seems amped. Almost like a fan.

Hey they did end up getting Booker way later than I thought he would go. I like it.

Booker seems strong but not twitchy. More of a hustle energy player with a motor that doesn’t stop.

Yeah I don’t see it that way.

I’m sure he’s enjoying the moment, but he’s also conscious of how stuff like texting punters or staying late to shake hands with the combine cleaning staff plays.

Which is great. Necessary, even. Brady and Manning were politicians. Mahomes is too. He has lots of good company.

As a Rams fan who got to watch Johnny Hekker for years, if you get a really good punter it’s remarkable how obvious the value is over time. As an outsider I think Poles has nailed this draft.

We getting Booker? Oh very nice. King Poles is back on the menu. Getting any kind of edge talent to develop is huge. What did we give up anyone knows?

The Raiders were my favorite team in the 70's, and I loved watching Ray Guy (who I think was taken in the first round, likely the only time that's happened) just boom punts. He was good for 40-50 yards of extra field position every game it seemed. So I don't get all the angst over drafting a punter this high. They also tend to have long careers.

The guy wears #9, Jim McMahon's old nunber, and he even sort of looks like Jim.

Pretty much a perfect draft.

Superstar QB, blue chip receiver that fell to us, offensive and defensive line help, and a much needed punter.

2025 4th.

Bears will get a 3rd compensatory pick if Ian Cunningham goes elsewhere. So may even out in the Bears favor anyways.

Yahoo Sports had Booker #81 on their big board, so that's a good pick up in the 5th round.

I agree, on paper this worked out about as well as you could hope for.

Wonder what this was all about. Could be nothing I suppose but a little odd.

Booker definitely has that upside developmental frame/length poles loves. He's light though for a 4/3 3 down edge. But his tape looks pretty good for only 1 year of real college ball and that frame is great and hes still only 21. Hard not to be excited about the outcome of this draft right now.

Great draft.

Perhaps 3 8+ year starters?

And then two good pieces of clay for the Oline and DLine.

Just over one year later, here's where the trade stands.

Panthers get: Quarterback Bryce Young

Bears get: WR DJ Moore, OT Darnell Wright, CB Tyrique Stevenson (traded up to No. 56 pick), QB Caleb Williams and a 2025 second-round pick.
