I've seen McDermott play a bunch of times (not relying on youtube clips) and this guy is exactly what the team needs. I'd probably prefer Stauskas as he fills a giant hole at SG but to get a player and shooter like McDermott who am I to complain.

I like both, but I like Stauskas more because of his ability to handle the ball.

Its funny to me that majority of this board say getting Mcdermott at 8 is a reach but all the draft experts(ford, Baylis) and NBA guys say that its no way he falls out the top 10. Every legitimate draft source have Mcdermott ranked higher then Stauskas. People say Mcdermott is slow footed yet he was able to be atheletic defenders off the dribble all season long. Absolutely no Nba scout has said that they fear that Mcdermot will be able to score in the league. They are concerned about who he will guard at the next level but in Thibs schemes were no one is ever isolated that is a non issue. Dont see how people are so high on Stauskas and not Mcdermott when literaly every draft scout have Mcdermott ranked ahead of stauskas. Stauskas defense is nothing to celebrate over either. That being said i would take either one with open arms.

But McDermott's rebounding is intriguing to me. If that translates, then that's a whole different story.

Funnily enough, Frye opted out of his contract so hes a FA too

Same here I like Stauskas' ball handling but would be happy with either.

You guys know that McDermott at 8 would take up more cap space than 16 plus 19, right? So this move hurts us in terms of cap space if its 16, 19 and Sacto pick for 8.

I am not really a fan of McDermott at 8, or any of the guys who will be available at that range if it costs more than 16 & 19 i.e. Taj involved. However, some of the comparisons of Doug to NBA players in this thread, past or present, are laughable.

Really crappy analysis. So bad, that some of the joke comparisons are more apt.

Watched DX's scouting video on McD. I like him but because hes a tweener i really dont know if Id want him on the team. He would really only have to be used as a spot up shooter. Maybe go in the post if theres a mismatch.

WTF are you talking about, woman. The comparison to Doug West was spot on. They're both named Doug!

I've heard the move up is for Gary Harris. The Bulls have a lot going on right now.

EDIT: The Bulls would want to add shooters around Rose and Melo if they landed him.

hopefully this is a smoke screen if they were to trade up

if they take doug @ 8 its clear their drafting is overrated...and if the only thing they are supposedly good at is overrated then its time to part ways
