D Wade, alias Plan B
OK, let's assume that Lebron screws us. I don't think that's much of a stretch. If he goes to NY with Bosh, he creates a problem for both Chicago and Miami. Its questionable if Wade / Amare / Crap could ever beat Lebron / Bosh / Crap. So, with all of the recent Chicago hype, Wade decides to take Lebron's spot and try to win a few titles in his hometown.
Then Chicago just has to move Hinrich + picks for capspace and sign a guy like Lee.
Rose / Vet min
Wade / Draft pick
Deng / Johnson
Lee / Gibson
Noah / Asik
Thoughts?
Personally, I think that Miami's plan is contingent on:
- Lebron staying in Cleveland or going to Miami
- Bosh going to Miami or going out west
That would make it so that Wade / Lebron, Wade / Bosh or Wade / Amare is a legit title team once they fill out the roster. If you get a super team somewhere in the East, Wade may rethink things.

cf: who do you see taking on Hinrich for pure capspace? If my math is right, we'd have to take back no more than 3.5m or so of his contract in actual salary in order to sign Lee to a reasonably priced contract.

To get two players, and Asik, doesn't Deng have to go?
Deng to the Clippers, Clippers send a #1 to Spurs, rights to Splitter to Bulls.

If Washington can move Arenas, I could see them. I could see LAL getting in on a 3 way where they send out Vujacic and a third team takes his one year deal and some picks.
Your math is correct, btw. It almost has to involve a team under the cap, which is why I am throwing picks at it.

Re: D Wade, alias Plan B
Just some logic:
Wade is 29.
He parties a lot; likes Miami for that reason.
He is past wanting to "be the man."
He is an MVP player, but in order for him to be happy the next few years, he needs to find 1 or 2 all-star teammates so all the pressure's not on him.
Chicago is not that situation, and he realizes it. This city puts an enormous amount of pressure on guys, and Wade isn't a superhuman athlete. Thus the reason his team went nowhere when he didn't have the help. Yes, Rose and Noah are upgrades over Beasley and Haslem, but not "championship" upgrades.
I see 0.5% chance Wade comes here. He'd only WANT to come here if we got Lebron or Bosh first, ala Garnett/Allen. Problem is, if we get Lebron James first, without dumping Deng or Kirk, there's no way in hell any team would help us out with the sign-and-trade even if Wade begged Riley to trade him for Deng and Kirk.

I think Wade wants to stay with his team as much as any of the free agents. I also have already convinced myself that Boozer or Amare will wind up in Miami, giving Wade even more reason to stay. Also, I just don't see him basing his decision on what Lebron does. In his eyes, he's got a ring while Lebron doesn't. He's not worried about Lebron James. Just my opinion, but he wants to win in Miami, and I think they will go after a big man to please him.

I still really don't like Lee. Look at what Boston's interior defense is doing to one of the best offenses in the league.

What? He basically carried the Heat franchise ever since he was a rookie. How does that possible equate to him not wanting to be the man? If anything, it shows this guy, whether he is injured or not can carry an entire franchise on his shoulders all by himself.

Rose, check. Noah, borderline all-star check.

He isn't a super-human athlete? Who is a super human athlete? For the most part, Wade has been considered one of the best athletes in the league, year in and year out. He may not wow you as consistently as he did when he was younger, but he is still right up there. Then you have to take into account that not only does he have great athletic ability, he isn't afraid to use it(like many young players in this league) and he is willing to put his body on the line.

I don't see him coming her either. I've been in the minority who believes that Wade and Rose will work, not because of the numbers but just because I always felt that having two really good players on the same team, regardless of position will find a way to work.
I think more-so than the reason you stated above, I don't think he comes because I think he has burnt his bridge of wanting to play in Chicago too many times over. He has basically admitted (without really admitting), that he is afraid to play in his home town, because of pressures of his family and friends, and I think that's still the case. And quite honestly, with how well Rose has dealt with the pressures of playing in his home town, has put more of a sour taste in Wade's mouth - of course I have no proof of this, but just my feeling.
Why so serious?

Re: D Wade, alias Plan B
I like it. Plus, I think after the dust settles, the teams with cap space that miss out will be looking to capitilize on teams wanting a salary dump or to replace players they lost in FA. What if Gay leaves the Grizz? I think they'd be open for some kind of deal for Deng. Clippers might be as well. I think the Hornets would like Deng to replace Peja because they have to make CP3 happy. The other team is the Spurs who Im sre would like Deng to replace Jefferson's 15 mil expiring. Yes, they're just expirings, but they can be moved pretty easy with sweetners. There's also the Nets who might like to acquire a guy like Kirk--especially if we make it orth their while by sending them picks and/or one of our young uns.
Having said all that, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Deng or Hinrich moved on draft day.
There's a load of possibilities and I think Gar is going to get it done. He's shown his ability to pull the trigger on deals these past two seasons and I think he will again.

Re: D Wade, alias Plan B
I'd take Wade, also I really don't see how the Bulls can screw this summer up much other than maxing out Joe. If Wade, LBJ, Bosh and Amare all say no, we can still improve this team. Boozer or Lee with Morrow, Mike Miller, Reddick or even using our space to take Azuibuke is a good summer. If we miss on the big 4, we need to spend wisely, get value deals and hopefully during the season we can swap a Kirk taking on a bigger deal.
I just see it being really hard to mess this offseason up

Re: D Wade, alias Plan B
The only way I see Wade leaving Miami is if both Bosh and Amare end up elsewhere.
I kind of see Wade as being the last of the big 4 to make his decision, because his decision will depend on Bosh/Amare's decisions, and their decisions will depend on LeBron's decision.

Re: D Wade, alias Plan B
I'm no fan of Chicago or Miami and I know this may sound crazy but I think Wade is the best all around player in the NBA. I think he is the most complete player offensively, defensively, mentally and I think he is in shape so beyond anyone else the way he plays so hard defensively the entire game and still carries the biggest load offensively in the NBA. Just my opinions but I would beware of the (seemingly) lack of passion/desire from some other available stars.

Good points, Leto. I hadn't really considered these. I think the Memphis one is an especially interesting prospect.

Wade to me is the least likely of leaving their team, and i think it will be a lot harder to move hinrich than deng, cuz well deng is pretty good and hinrich is pretty sucky.

Re: D Wade, alias Plan B
Maxing out joe johnson would be the worst management move possible. You would tie up so much money and get garbage in return. Our FO is way smarter then that as we are going to draft a shooting guard anywayz. Getting a good drafted shooting guard and working with him would be way better and using that 20 or so mil on others would be more ideal then maxing that bum.

My concern is Wade settles, accepts Amare, moves Beasley for another decent star, and calls it a day.
We then end up with just Boozer.

Judging from Wade comments, I think he would stay in Miami as long as they land a top flight guy. So even if LBJ/Bosh goes to NY, I don't think Wade is going to say "see ya!" and leave if they just inked Amare to help him.

Adding 'just Boozer' to the Bulls makes them a very very good team.
