UPDATED NEWS.. dream team scenario could be real

Post#1 » by HoopsPro » Wed Jul 7, 2010 7:16 am

UPDATED AS OF 12AM, Thursday

Newsday now is reporting it's a done deal.

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... z0t4Fu6Y9z

These are my own views, and I don't have any sources, but based on the way things are going, I think it's very possible that LBJ, Wade, and Bosh end up in Miami. Here's why...

I've stated all along that unless the Cavs make a deal to improve their team, Lebron would leave. Apparently Chris Bosh shut the door on playing in Cleveland earlier today, and the Cavs have made no other moves.

And then earlier this evening, Chris Bosh softened his stance on a six year deal, and might accept a five year deal under the right circumstances, which means he could go to Miami...or the Bulls, without doing a sign and trade. But Bosh wants to play with Wade, and Wade wants a max six year deal, which he can only get from Miami. So, it looks as if Bosh/Wade are a done deal in Miami. That leaves Lebron with few choices...

Lebron could come to the Bulls, but the Bulls wouldn't have Bosh or Wade, and if those three guys really have discussed the dream team scenario seriously, what motivation would Lebron have for the Bulls, Knicks, or Nets, when he could go to Miami with Bosh/ Wade ?

Finally, reports suggest that Lebron/Wade/Bosh will be holding a conference call on Wednesday. If they were all going to different teams, then why have a conference call ? It's not as if they invited Boozer or David Lee for the call.

Adande said that Bosh and Wade's decisions will be "independent" of Lebron's show.
That doesn't sound like these guys are doing the super-team thing.

bosh has stated that a LBJ/Wade/Bosh scenario woul be unlikely, probably in a video game.

I really think Miami will get Wade and Bosh. And the chances of LBJ going to Knicks has gone up ever since signing STAT plu the expiring contract of Eddy Curry.

All that suggests is that the timing of the announcements wouldn't be dependent. And while Wade/Bosh have the same agent, Lebron has a different agent. At this point, if Lebron is serious about going to Miami, it would take Wade and Bosh about two seconds to agree to play there as well. The key to the dream team was money - Bosh needed to sacrifice his max six year deal to make it work if Lebron was coming. We shall see if that happens real soon.

very unlikely in my opinion

Heat must bring top FA in order to keep Wade. Instead what we hear is:
1. Miami working a sign and trade : Boozer for J Oneal.
2. Miami working Haywood for Beasley
3, Miami interested in Korver

To me it sounds like Miami will split all the cap on the most second tier players they can hire, being Boozer the new franchise player.

Bosh and Wade decision are independent from Lebron likely cause lebron will either stay in cleveland or to go NY/NJ. Dont think it is NJ cause if it were, it should not be soooo difficult for Bosh to follow him there.

If that's the case in these times of purposeful leaks and timely rumors, wouldn't a "no comment" have sufficed from Wade/Bosh's agent?

If Lebron was going to Miami then something significant needs to happen tomorrow involving Wade & Bosh. There is no way that Lebron commits to the Heat before Wade & Bosh. It just wouldnt seem right. Oh well, might just be me that thinks that way.

I respectfully disagree. Wade wants to stay in Miami, but has told Riley that he needs to see a significant improvement on the roster before he commits to the Heat. If Riley was able to get a commitment from Lebron first, what motivation would Wade have for not committing himself ? And what better roster upgrade is there than Lebron ? Even if Bosh screwed things up, the Heat could sign Boozer along with Lebron and Wade, but I don't think Bosh would do that if Lebron has already committed to the Heat.

Perhaps. It just doesnt seem like something that would happen..lol. I see him choosing between Cle, NY, Chi, and NJ. Now, if Wade/Bosh sign with the Heat prior to his announcement then the Heat become the favorites in my opinion.

No you're right. Wade would want to announce it first.

Very unlikely.

Just read the first page, all the explanations are there.

You guys are overly concerned about the announcement - it really doesn't matter who announces first. All that matters is for Wade to get a commitment from Lebron - either in public, or more likely, in private.

The first shoe has dropped, ESPN's Chris Broussard is reporting that Wade/Bosh will announce they are signing with Miami later today.

I hate to be bitter but they won't win a thing with that roster and it will give me great pleasure...IF that happens.

Orlando and Boston are still the teams to beat, but any team with Wade and Lebron in the backcourt, and Bosh in the frontcourt, would be very very dangerous.

I meant just Bosh and Wade.

If Lebron doesn't join the Heat, Miami will get another free agent to come along, as well as possibly bringing back Jermain Oneal and Udonis Haslem. The Heat would be a top 4 eastern conference team with that roster.

You were correct on the timing, now it's all about Lebron making the announcement on his ESPN reality show Thursday night.

Bosh said that a few days ago when he thought he couldn't get a deal done with Miami. Now that Bosh/Wade are in Miami, that obstacle no longer exists.

Personally, I'm not believing any of the Lebron to the Knicks chatter, because it's just that, chatter. I'm of the belief that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh have been planning the dream team ever since they played together at the Olympics.
